Job Title: Lead Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Lead Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and Python, along with an understanding of application security, cloud-native development, DevSecOps, and AI-driven automation.

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems while collaborating with Engineering, DevOps/SRE, and Security teams. You will leverage Agentic AI frameworks (such as Factory AI or equivalent platforms) to build intelligent AI agents that automate security workflows, identify vulnerabilities, generate remediation recommendations, and enable automated issue resolution.

The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise with hands-on experience in cloud platforms, modern backend architectures, AI and secure software development practices. A passion for adopting emerging AI technologies to improve engineering productivity and strengthen enterprise security is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance backend applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
  • Build, deploy, and support RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native backend services following modern software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, DevOps/SRE, and Security teams to integrate security controls throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Develop AI-powered automation solutions using Factory AI or equivalent Agentic AI frameworks.
  • Design and implement intelligent AI agents (droids) to automate:
  • Vulnerability discovery and analysis
  • Security assessments
  • Remediation recommendations
  • Automated remediation where applicable
  • Build AI-driven workflows for threat modelling, vulnerability analysis, security assessments, and contextual security recommendations based on user prompts.
  • Integrate AI automation into DevSecOps pipelines to enhance security posture, operational efficiency, and developer productivity.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize applications on cloud platforms using modern CI/CD practices.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and adopt emerging AI, cloud, automation, and security technologies to continuously improve engineering capabilities.
  • Ensure backend services meet enterprise standards for security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practice initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership where applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Backend Development

• • Strong hands-on experience in Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
  • Proven experience designing and developing backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
  • Good understanding with Google Cloud services including:
  • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
  • Spanner
  • BigQuery
  • Redis
  • MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency with modern IDEs, source control systems, and software development tools.

AI & Automation

• • Hands-on experience with AI-powered automation and Agentic AI frameworks (such as Factory AI or equivalent) to design and build intelligent AI agents and workflow automation solutions. 
  • Experience building AI agents and integrating AI capabilities into security workflows.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, AI orchestration, MCP, and agent-based architectures is desirable.

Cloud & DevOps

• • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or AWS/Azure.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native application development and deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent)

Security

• • Experience working with security tools and platforms, including:
  • SAST
  • DAST
  • Jira
  • Confluence
  • Security incident management workflows
  • Good understanding of secure software development principles and frameworks:
  • OWASP Top 10
  • Secure SDLC
  • CISSP concepts
  • gRPC protocols
  • Knowledge of enterprise security technologies:

  • Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
  • Encryption
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or Information assurance
• A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP), Certified Application Security Engineer (CASE), or Secure Software Practitioner (SSP) certifications are an advantage
