From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS / OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.
This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky, and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.
The Role
Thales AMS is searching for junior to intermediate Software Engineers with exposure to Core Java coupled with either Java FX or Java Swing or Java Scripts AngularJS, ReactJS front end experience.
As a Software Engineer, you will be accountable for:
Designing and delivering software to meet requirements including design, reuse, development, integration and verification
Defining and tailoring the software engineering environment and the process, practices and tools applicable to the project
Ensuring that the designed solution is developed according to design, schedule, cost and quality expectations
Identifying risks, and proposing effective solutions; executing mitigation actions and reporting on outcomes and residual risks
This position is hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home based at our Melbourne CBD office.
Qualifications
Relevant bachelor’s or master’s Degree
Skills & Experience
Australian Citizen as there is a need to obtain clearance
2-5 years in Core Java coupled with experience in either Java FX or Java Swing or Java scripts AngularJS, ReactJS.
Working within a highly regulated domain e.g. Transport/Banking/Healthcare/Aerospace etc
A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
