Why should I Apply:

At Sonar, we’re a group of brilliant, motivated, and driven professionals working hard to help organizations build responsible, secure, high-quality code quickly and systematically. We build solutions that don’t just solve symptoms of problems – we fix problems at the source – source code, to be specific.

We have a dynamic culture with employees worldwide and hub offices in the USA, Switzerland, the UK, Singapore, and Germany. We believe team members should have the opportunity to come to work every day, work on a product they are proud of, love what they do, and feel energized by their peers. With our roots deep in the open source community, we’re all about the mission: provide solutions that deliver Clean Code.

The SonarSource Analysis Team is looking for passionate Java Developers to create the most advanced static analyzers in the world. You will have a word to say about what you will be working on. Within our team, you will be supported by great colleagues who are always willing to exchange knowledge. Using your skills, you will contribute to the growth of the development and professional capabilities of the team, and focus on what matters.

The impact you can have

  • Help improve the team's effectiveness by challenging and continuously improving existing processes, designs and engineering practices
  • Lead by example, mentor and grow more junior members of the team
  • Have an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the team by participating in the recruitment process

On a daily basis, you will

  • Develop new and maintain existing features for code analyzers for different programming languages (Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Swift, TSQL, PHP and many others).
  • Evolve the way our analyzers understand code by creating ever better models and developing new rules on top of them.
  • Contribute to the open source community by developing open source products under the SonarSource umbrella and contributing back to libraries used by our products.
  • Help collectively define the team's short and long term goals.

The skills you will demonstrate

  • Strong ability to develop in Java with clean code.
  • Excellent Computer Science fundamentals (common data structures and algorithms).
  • Fluency in software engineering practices such as automated tests or CI/CD.
  • Experience with agile practices and principles.
  • Comfortable in dealing with change and complexity.
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo as well as to be challenged.
  • Leadership; you take initiative and demonstrate your ability to lead a subject from beginning to end.
  • We welcome candidates with the desire to grow, train and assist others in their delivery.

  • Candidates to be considered must be located near an office (Bochum, Annecy, Geneva) or open to relocating prior to starting.

Nice to have

  • Compiler frontend knowledge
