Responsibilities:

The Mid-Level Special Security Technician (Physical) supports the Special Security Officer (SSO) by managing access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and SCIFs, conducting security briefings, indoctrinations, debriefings, and ensuring compliance with SCI access protocols. Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining SCIFs, overseeing access control systems (ACD and AMAG), managing intrusion detection and CCTV monitoring, and processing SCIF accreditations and policy exceptions. The role also requires maintaining physical security programs such as open storage inspections and residential storage assessments, while adhering to DoD security standards and pursuing SFPC certification within two years.

Requirements:
  • Assists the Special Security Officer (SSO) to ensure control of access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and SCI facilities(SCIFs); certifying and receiving SCI visitor clearances / accesses; conducts SCI security briefings, indoctrinations, debriefings, training on classified material / SSO-related material and topics; obtains signed  nondisclosure agreements; and provides guidance and assistance for processing SCI position and eligibility requests for assigned military, Government and contractor personnel. Other duties may include but not limited to: audits of classified material; inspections of classified material storage facilities / SCIFs / containers; and, researching and preparing classified material-related policy and management recommendations, reports and recommendations. Other requirements and skills, consistent with the forgoing description, may be specified in individual TOs.
  • Desired Experience: At least 8 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
  • Desired Education: Bachelor’s degree in an area related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Manage and maintain access control to the Combatant Command (CCMD) compound and facilities, granting all personnel/visitors appropriate physical access to command facilities and access-controlled areas.
  • Physically inspect and document findings for the CCMD SCIF accreditation; perform and maintain all annual SCIF inspection checklists. 
  • Maintain the Open Storage Inspection Program and perform annual inspections. 
  • Inspect, assess, and draft responses to requests for residential use and storage of sensitive/classified information and equipment. 
  • Maintain the online Access Control Database (ACD) and badge records in the American Magnetic Technology (AMAG) system.
  • Monitor the AMAG Intrusion Detection System/Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). 
  • Process FVEY Mitigation packages and SCIF accreditation requests for approval. 
  • Maintain and process exceptions to SCIF policy requests for CCMD. 
  • Required to obtain the DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 2 years and recertify as required. 
  • Required to maintain the online Access Control Database (ACD) and badge records in the American Magnetic Technology (AMAG) system.
  • Monitor the AMAG Intrusion Detection System/Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
