We are seeking a proactive and
detail-oriented mid-level IT Systems & Support Specialist to join our
onsite team in Woodmead, Johannesburg. In this role, you will be the primary
point of contact for daily IT support while managing our hardware assets,
ensuring device security, and upholding IT compliance standards. The ideal
candidate is a customer-focused problem solver who excels at both hands-on
technical support and backend administration.
1. IT Support & Issue Resolution
- Serve as the primary point of
contact for Level 1 IT support, resolving hardware, software, and network
connectivity issues for onsite staff.
- Manage the IT helpdesk queue,
ensuring tickets are logged, prioritized, and resolved within agreed service
level agreements (SLAs).
- Escalate complex technical issues
to relevant third-party vendors or senior IT staff when necessary.
2. User Account Administration
- Create, manage, and disable user
accounts across active directory environments using Google Workspaces and
Microsoft 365
- Manage role-based access control
(RBAC) and permissions, ensuring users have the appropriate level of access
required for their roles.
3. Device & Asset Management
- Maintain an accurate, up-to-date
inventory of all company IT assets, including laptops, desktops, mobile
devices, and peripherals.
- Manage the hardware lifecycle,
from procurement and deployment to decommissioning and secure disposal.
4. Security, Patching & Compliance
- Utilize Mobile Device Management
(MDM) tools (e.g., Intune, Jamf) to ensure all company devices are standardized
and secure.
- Monitor and deploy critical OS
updates, software patches, and antivirus/EDR definitions to all endpoint
devices.
- Assist in enforcing IT security
policies and ensuring the business adheres to local compliance standards (such
as POPIA) and general IT best practices.
5. Onboarding & Offboarding
- Handle all IT aspects of the
employee lifecycle. Prepare and provision hardware and software for new hires.
- Conduct basic IT inductions for
new staff, educating them on company systems, security protocols, and how to
access IT support.
- Ensure secure and complete
revocation of access and collection of hardware when staff leave the company.
Requirements
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in an IT support, desktop support, or systems
administration role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in administering Microsoft 365/Google Workspace and
Active Directory/Entra ID.
○ Experience with endpoint
management using JumpCloud
○ Strong understanding of Windows
(and ideally macOS) operating systems.
○ Basic understanding of networking
concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to
explain technical concepts to non-technical staff. A patient and
customer-centric approach to support.
Skills Required
- 2-4 years of experience in an IT support role
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365/Google Workspace and Active Directory
- Experience with endpoint management using JumpCloud
- Strong understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems
- Basic understanding of networking concepts
