The SAP Basis Level 2 Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the performance and security of SAP systems. This role is pivotal in managing SAP environments, including system configuration, database management, and compliance with relevant standards. The specialist will troubleshoot issues, mentor junior team members, and actively contribute to continuous improvements.
KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
- Database Management: Oversee database operations related to SAP, troubleshoot issues, understand backup processes, and perform database restoration.
- Landscape Management: Assist L3 in system reconfiguration, support system refresh tasks, and initiate improvements in landscape management.
- Problem Management: Manage and resolve problems using the ServiceNow (SNOW) platform, from analysis to documentation of solutions.
- Release Management: Understand all processes related to release management, troubleshoot, and support transport management issues without the need for Level 3 (L3) involvement.
- Compliance: Own both internal and external audits, understand and implement compliance processes, support Level 1 (L1) in role creation, and manage Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).
- Maintenance Tasks: Understand and support L1 in maintenance activities.
- Security: Analyze and implement SAP security measures, review application and database security to maintain compliance with standards.
- Support: Handle incidents, requests, and maintenance related to Basis, manage priority 1 and 2 incidents with L3 support, and maintain the Basis operations manual.
POTENTIAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Proficient in SAP BASIS, SAP PI products, database management (HANA), and comfortable working with Linux environments.
- Experienced in performing database activities including provisioning, recovery, and upgrades.
- Skilled in data archiving according to guidelines and familiar with cloud services (AWS and Azure) used by the organization.
- Ability to tune performance in a Linux environment with Sybase and Hana databases, and proactively monitor system health to mitigate risks.
