The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
Applies broad information technology knowledge and experience to supervise the day‑to‑day activities of IT demand intake, governance, qualification, and portfolio coordination. Ensures effective operation of demand intake processes, supports portfolio reporting and prioritization activities, and coordinates with IT and business stakeholders to maintain accurate demand and project data. Handles non‑routine and complex inquiries while ensuring compliance with established IT standards and principles.

As a(n) IT Supervisor – Demand and Portfolio Management, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Apply broad expertise to solve complex demand and portfolio management issues, and lead improvements to intake methods, tools, and processes.
  • Oversee and guide demand intake, ensuring requests are properly documented, qualified, routed, and supported with clear standards, templates, and tools.
  • Review and approve work from Business Relationship Managers, Project Managers, and IT Business Managers, while resolving issues related to reporting, data accuracy, and cross‑functional alignment.
  • Support prioritization and portfolio governance by preparing reports, gathering data, updating dashboards, and coordinating stakeholder input.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, documentation updates, training materials, and user support, and participate in cross‑functional IT initiatives to improve demand and portfolio processes.
  • Influence stakeholders to ensure clarity of demand inputs, accuracy of portfolio data, and adherence to established processes, while upholding corporate policies, professional standards, and 3M values.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Seven (7) years of experience in IT, project management, business relationship management, or portfolio/demand management in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of IT processes, and the ability to interpret information and communicate it clearly.
  • Experience with demand management or portfolio tools is typically required.
  • Demonstrated influencing skills, planning capabilities, and familiarity with project governance environments are expected.

Work location:

  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.​

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 - $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
