About the job…

Join our AI solutions team for a summer internship focused on designing and implementing machine learning language models. Our AI systems play a crucial role in Alfa Laval's key business processes. This internship will provide you with the opportunity to develop or enhance your ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Cross-functional collaboration between our IT professionals and business experts will enable you to leverage and further develop the application of AI systems in business. Compliant and responsible AI practices are also a fundamental part of our AI solutions team responsibilities.

This is a hybrid opportunity located in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain machine learning models using Python and popular libraries such as Transformers, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and NumPy
  • Utilize MLFlow for tracking experiments and managing the ML lifecycle
  • Build and manage AI pipelines and automation workflows using Azure DevOps
  • Train, run, and evaluate ML models using Azure Machine Learning services
  • Deploy models to production environments within Azure infrastructure
  • Work with Azure services including Azure Blob Storage and Azure CosmosDB for data storage and retrieval
  • Collaborate with data teams to design and optimize data pipelines and model integration
  • Create and share insights using Power BI for effective business intelligence reporting
  • Participate in cross-functional AI initiatives and contribute to the team’s growth and innovation

What you know…

  • Strong PC skills and Python programming are a must
  • Azure knowledge or experience a plus
  • Knowledge in Power BI, which is our business intelligence software
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple short-term tasks
  • Ability to work independently (this will be a hybrid position)
  • Ability to synthesize technical information from multiple sources\Must be good at technical AI problem solving.
  • Must have a positive customer-focused attitude.

At Alfa Laval, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your total compensation package. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job, background, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. The salary for this role is $16.5 per hour.
