BAE Systems Inc. is seeking an IT Specialist to join our dynamic team of engineers, technologists, and military veterans. This position is in Wallops Island, VA working at the U.S. Navy's Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). SCSC provides combat systems and platform-specific radars and sensors lifecycle engineering support, test and evaluation, platform certification, combat system training, interoperability testing, and range operations. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representation of AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) at-sea configurations.
The selected candidate is responsible for supporting engineering operations, maintenance, and cybersecurity for SCSC's research, development, testing, and evaluation networks. The successful candidate will provide daily support to SCSC by planning, installing, testing, deploying, and maintaining computing infrastructure. Primary responsibilities are maintaining the availability of computing technology and operating in compliance with DoD policy. The successful candidate will drive improvements to existing infrastructure and standard operating procedures.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum education and years of relevant/related work experience required: Associate degree in a relevant/related field or at least two years of relevant experience. Experience with cabling, installing, testing, deploying, and administering IT assets. Knowledge and experience in implementing defense industry cybersecurity practices.
Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. If selected candidate is not in possession of an active Secret clearance, then he/she will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Could+, SecurityX, CICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCSP, CISSP, CCNP-Security, FITSP-O, or GFACT certification
- Windows server training/certification (desktop and server)
- Knowledge of databases to include MS SQL
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Network management tools: Splunk, SolarWinds, Steelcloud
- Automation: Powershell
- Security Standards and Tools: NIST SP800-53, DISA STIGs
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $59023 - $100339
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
