Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for an IT Software Support Specialist!
*This role may be based at any BMD location or the Boise, ID -HQ Office*
ResponsibilitiesThe position performs user support, software problem resolution, and new version testing for our Agility Software package and other windows based applications. User support activities include on-line and telephone support, developing standard operating procedures, remote new feature training, and on-site training for our forty-two distribution centers and regional offices. Will document processes, write SOPs and training documents. Software problem resolution includes documenting software problems, follow-up on status of fixes, and testing fix releases. New version testing will include detailed testing of new versions of the Agility Software Package that are installed three (3) or four (4) times per year. Position also may perform testing, training, and installation of new business applications. Business travel to provide training at locations is required (5% to 25% annual travel). Although majority of work occurs during normal business hours some night and weekend overtime is required for data base management and installation of new releases.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications: College degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function. Working Conditions include a normal office environment with moderate travel required (5% to 25%). Most work is done to meet installation deadlines. Response to operating problems is urgent; response often requires work outside normal business hours.
Preferred Qualifications: Prefer degree in computer science, computer information systems, business, or a related field. Typically more than three (3) years of experience in related job function preferred. Ideal candidate is a self-starter, works well in a small, self-managed work team, and possesses proficient computer and analytical skills, and effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, and technical skills.
