The Role

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change,  based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.  

Role and Scope of Position:  
An IT Product Owner acts as the voice of the customer within Agile teams, managing the Support and service request backlog and prioritizing features to maximize value. They bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution, defining requirements, guiding development, and accepting user stories to deliver high-quality digital products. Working with the Release Train Engineer and Business leaders on prioritization.

  • Backlog Management: Define, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog (user stories, epics, defects).

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the liaison between business stakeholders, customers, and technical teams to align on product vision.

  • Sprint Planning & Execution: Lead sprint planning, clarify requirements for developers, and accept deliverables to ensure quality.

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and maintain the product roadmap to guide development toward business goals.

  • User Needs Analysis: Gather feedback, analyze data, and translate market needs into functional, high-value product features. 

  • Assesses value, develops cases, and prioritizes stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy

  • Provides backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories

  • Supports the IT development process and project lifecycle end-to-end along with developing test plans, cases and participating in the testing and approval of new functionality implementations.

  • Identifies business requirements and codifies into well-defined specifications, stories and supporting artifacts that articulate simple, elegant solutions to consumer problems.

  • Identifies, contacts, and collaborates with internal and external subject matter experts, including partners, vendors and trade organizations in order to gather, organize and share market trends and best practices.

  • Collaborates with other product owners and key stakeholders to formulate, coordinate and evangelize product roadmaps and strategic plans.

  • Works with cross-functional teams to investigate, gather and develop detailed business requirements that effectively translate business problems into innovative and practical solutions.

  • Translates business problems into project requirements and supports the IT process from build to launch.

  • Assists in the development of user experience goals, stories and requirements that can be used to create self-service support product specifications.

  • Identifies risks which could jeopardize the deliverables and results of Eversource self-service initiatives or objectives.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate a keen awareness of the user experience while seeking opportunities for self-service adoption. This person must have the skills to develop web content, navigation flows and the understanding to create a look and feel that supports the core business objective - driving more transactions online.

  • Customer-first orientation and strong passion for delivering quality tools, information and content in service to consumer needs.

  • Possess initiative to think several steps ahead in the digital environment and anticipate needs of customers and employees.

  • Must be technically-oriented with the ability to write and interpret requirements, QA releases and interact effectively with technical resources.

  • Must be able to evaluate internal and external resources for development and execution of digital and website initiatives.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with acute attention to detail.

  • Strong organization skills, meticulously thorough and tenacious.

  • Good analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable plans and tactics.

  • Good communication (verbal and written), strong interpersonal, negotiation and management skills, and strong business acumen.

  • Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email.

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.

Education: 

  • Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc.), or applicable work experience;

Experience:

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of work experience preferably working within an IT or Digital organization.

  • Preference given to individuals that have experience working with Office 365, SharePoint Online, PowerBI

  • Jira, Confluence, Trello, or Azure DevOps for backlog tracking.

  • Analytics tools for monitoring user behavior and product metrics. 

Licenses:  

  • Agile and/or Six Sigma certifications preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$116,390.00-$129,320.00

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment.  This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
