The Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented UI Designer to join our product team, focusing on the evolution of our internal order fulfillment tools. In this role, you will be the bridge between complex business logic and intuitive user experiences. You will work closely with Product Owners to translate operational requirements into high-fidelity, functional designs that empower our dealers to process orders more efficiently

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Design Leadership: Partner closely with software engineers, product managers, and a diverse range of stakeholders to deeply understand technical constraints, user stories, and complex workflows inherent in our internal fulfillment systems.
  • End-to-End UI Design: Own the design process from concept to implementation, creating detailed wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that simplify data-heavy tasks and complex interactions.
  • Iterative & User-Centered Development: Champion a culture of rapid iteration and continuous improvement, incorporating feedback from Product Owners, internal stakeholders, and user research to ensure designs meet critical operational needs and deliver exceptional user value.
  • Seamless Developer Handoff: Prepare clear, comprehensive, and well-documented design specifications and assets for engineering teams. Provide proactive support throughout the implementation phase to guarantee visual and functional accuracy, maintaining design integrity.
  • Elevate Design Systems: Actively contribute to and evolve the broader Ford design system and internal design libraries, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reusability across multiple internal products.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Provide design leadership and mentorship to other designers within cross-functional groups, fostering their growth as UX practitioners and contributing to a collaborative and inclusive culture within the larger Digital team.
  • Advocate for the User: Champion user-centered design principles for your areas of focus, balancing user needs with critical business objectives and technical feasibility.
  • Drive Consistency & Quality: Ensure a consistent approach, integrity in usability, and accessibility across all design efforts involving multiple product units.
  • Project Planning & Strategy: Engage in project planning and scoping activities, aligning design initiatives with business needs and identifying new design opportunities to set teams up for success.
  • Innovation & Refinement: Concept, design, test, launch, and continuously refine new products and services through a systems-thinking approach, addressing both known and emergent user needs.
  • Data-Driven Design: Support design efforts for a data-driven "test & learn" program, integrating analytics and insights to inform design decisions and measure impact.
  • Problem Identification & Solutioning: Proactively collaborate with stakeholders to identify pain points and develop innovative solutions that enhance the user experience and operational efficiency.
Qualifications

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's degree in a design-related field (e.g., User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design) OR 5+ years of extensive experience in digital product design (UI/UX).
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in UI design, delivering projects from definition through execution and refinement.

Our preferred requirements:

  • Master's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors).
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma (or similar design tools) for wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity mockups.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Interaction Design, Service Design, Design Excellence, and Information Architecture principles.
  • Proven ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders, and work effectively within dynamic cross-functional teams of designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale, build relationships, and proactively engage with team members and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the value of product features, identify trade-offs, and deliver high-quality digital products that meet user and business needs.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing impactful UI design work across a variety of complex digital products or platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote and dynamic working environment, earning trust, maintaining positive relationships, and contributing to an inclusive culture.
