The IT Operations Specialist role will have broad responsibilities across our global footprint to maintain security and compliance, drive scalability and interoperability, and maximize resilience across our hardware and software systems. You’ll partner with teams throughout the company to make IT a driver of productivity, not a blocker. We are looking for someone who will not follow standard IT dogma, but be operationally driven to find creative solutions that work for Q-CTRL.
What you’ll be doing:
- End-to-End helpdesk management: Leading the triage and execution of helpdesk requests, collaborating with the broader team to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Fleet & asset lifecycle: Managing our global endpoint fleet, ensuring security compliance, and handling the provisioning/de-provisioning of hardware assets.
- Cloud & identity administration: Administering core cloud services and managing robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) across all IT assets.
- Global infrastructure & networking: Maintaining and optimizing our on-prem hardware (servers, switching, printers, and VPNs).
- Vendor & partner management: Evaluating IT vendors, managing external service providers, and planning cost-effective improvements.
- Building the IT roadmap: Auditing our current global setup, identifying tech debt, and, working with the wider Operations team, building a pragmatic, scalable roadmap forward.
Ideally you’ll have:
- Operationally focused mindset: Biased for getting things done and a comfort flexing across the tactical daily hands-on troubleshooting and the strategic roadmapping.
- SaaS & IAM expertise: Experience as a Google Workspace administrator and a strong grasp of identity management principles (user provisioning, SSO, and strict permission hygiene).
- Multi-OS endpoint management: Experience managing MacOS and Windows endpoints at scale via MDM tools - ideally Iru.
- ITSM & inventory discipline: Hands-on experience addressing service desk requests and maintaining tight control over global IT asset inventories.
- Proven networking depth: Strong experience configuring, troubleshooting, and securing networks, including Windows/Linux-based servers.
- Global security & compliance: A security-first approach with experience maintaining data loss prevention (DLP) and IT environments that conform to global standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001:2022).
- Collaborative communication: Clear communication skills with the ability to partner with the broader team and support non-technical staff across different time zones.
- A startup swagger: We move fast!
It would be fantastic if you have these skills/experience:
- Advanced cloud management: Experience managing Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure.
- Jira mastery: Familiarity with Jira Service Management (JSM) for ticketing and workflow automation.
- Global compliance: Experience navigating IT compliance with global export control regimes.
