IT Operations Engineer II

The IT Operations Engineer II plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications, platforms, and support systems. This role acts as a technical bridge across Development, Database, and Cloud/DevOps teams—driving automation, streamlining deployments, and resolving complex production challenges. This role will provide operational support for Oracle finance platform, helping ensure platform availability, performance, reliable integrations, and timely incident resolution.Job Duties and Responsibilities:

System Reliability and Operational Excellence – 50%

• Provide operational support for enterprise business platforms, ensuring availability, performance, incident resolution, and coordination of platform deployments and integrations.
• Advance system reliability by engineering and maintaining automated solutions that improve up time, reduce manual tasks, and enhance deployment consistency.
• Continuously improve deployment, automation, and troubleshooting techniques across engineering teams.
• Proactively identify and implement preventative solutions to help reduce incidents and strengthen overall system health. Increasing observability, reliability, and recoverability throughout all systems.
• Apply advanced PowerShell, Python, and SQL scripting to support automation, configuration, and data maintenance.
• Partner with Development and DBA teams to troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and build long-term sustainable resolutions.
• Manage deployment workflows and version control using GitHub, including pull requests, tagging, and branching strategies.

Automation Implementation and Maintenance – 20%

• Independently design, develop, maintain and optimize automated processes for in-house applications using advanced shell scripting. This includes troubleshooting, debugging, evaluating, and repairing any issues that arise in both new and existing automated processes.
• Researching and implementing new technology standards to operationalize automated solutions for the business and support teams. Building foundational roadmaps and testing efficiency of automations for junior engineers to facilitate future initiatives.
• Build complex automated solutions for deployment pipelines, system maintenance, and process optimization, tailored to meet the needs and goals of different value streams.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement – 15%

• Maintain and improve operational documentation, procedures, and tools to drive standardization, efficiency, and scalability across environments. This role will continuously evaluate existing processes to optimize system management workflows.
• Develop and refine documentation for deployment processes, pipeline configurations, and automation scripts to ensure long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to knowledge base articles and cross-team documentation to improve IT operations maturity.
• Actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and design reviews. This helps operationalize and onboard new tools, cloud services, and next-generation technologies.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and reinforcing operational standards to promote consistent and high-quality deliverables across the team.

Project Leadership – 15%

• Serve as a key technical contributor and collaborator on cross-functional initiatives to improve reliability and operational excellence.
• Partner closely with IT Operations Engineers, Automation Engineers, Cloud/DevOps Engineers, and Database Administrators to design and implement integrated solutions that enhance performance and system stability.
• Function as a technical lead on smaller-scale projects and as a core contributor on larger initiatives, ensuring deliverables are aligned with business objectives and technical standards.
• Actively participates in agile ceremonies such as scrum meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives driving transparency, accountability, and communication across all IT Operations Engineers.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):

• High school diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3-4 years of related work experience (an additional 3 years in leu of a bachelor’s degree).
• Hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting Oracle Fusion Applications, including monitoring system health, resolving incidents, supporting integrations, and coordinating with business, database, development, and vendor support teams.
• Scripting & Automation: Skilled with Powershell or Python scripting to support deployment automation, system administration, and custom tool development to streamline repetitive tasks.
• Database Fundamentals: Strong working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to write, tune, and execute queries or scripts that support application troubleshooting and performance analysis.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work closely with Development, DBA, Cloud, and DevOps teams to improve system reliability and delivery processes.
• Mentorship/Ownership: Acted as the primary operations engineer for at least one major application team. Experienced in onboarding and mentoring new engineers while providing technical guidance and support.
