THE ROLE 

The IT-Network Specialist provides hands-on information technology and network support throughout Huntington Place. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining the facility’s network infrastructure, supporting technology systems, and ensuring reliable connectivity for internal operations, clients, vendors, and events. 

The IT-Network Specialist serves as a technical resource for network architecture, system performance, disaster recovery planning, and user support. This position also provides operational support in the absence of the IT Manager and must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, event-driven environment. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Network Administration & Infrastructure 

  • Analyze network requirements and contribute to the design, integration, and implementation of network architecture. 

  • Maintain network hardware and software including servers, network devices, peripherals, terminals, and cabling infrastructure. 

  • Monitor network stability, utilization, and performance to ensure reliable operations. 

  • Install, configure, test, and support software and hardware upgrades. 

 

Systems Support & Operations 

  • Monitor systems performance and initiate recovery actions following outages or system failures. 

  • Manage backup, storage, retrieval, and computer operation scheduling functions. 

  • Coordinate third-party maintenance and support for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services. 

  • Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans and procedures. 

 

Customer & User Support 

  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers. 

  • Train users on network administration, office productivity applications, and technology best practices. 

  • Respond to technology requests and troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues. 

  • Coordinate with departments to understand and support operational technology needs. 

 

Vendor & Service Provider Management 

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with technology vendors and service providers. 

  • Work with consultants to ensure technology platforms support business objectives and operational requirements. 

  • Evaluate network hardware and software capabilities and provide recommendations for improvements. 

 

Cabling & Telecommunications 

  • Route, install, terminate, and test network cabling throughout the facility. 

  • Support voice, data, wireless, and telecommunications systems. 

  • Assist with technology infrastructure deployments for events and facility operations. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

KEY DELIVERABLES 

  • Reliable and secure network infrastructure supporting facility operations. 

  • Timely resolution of technical issues and service requests. 

  • Successful implementation and maintenance of network hardware and software. 

  • Effective disaster recovery and business continuity planning. 

  • Strong customer service and user support across the organization. 

  • Consistent technology performance supporting events and daily operations. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required. 

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft, or similar certifications preferred. 

  • Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology and network administration. 

  • Experience supporting enterprise network environments preferred. 

  • Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of networking technologies, servers, personal computers, wireless systems, and voice/data communications. 

  • Experience with network troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and infrastructure support. 

  • Familiarity with web hosting, telecommunications systems, and network security principles. 

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning abilities. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. 

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

This position operates throughout a large convention center facility and requires work in office, mechanical, telecommunications, and event environments. 

 

Physical requirements may include: 

  • Installation of network cabling in ceilings, rafters, catwalks, and confined spaces. 

  • Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet using ladders and lifts. 

  • Ability to pass a confined space fitness evaluation. 

  • Standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting equipment as needed. 

  • Occasional work during evenings, weekends, and holidays to support events or emergency situations.
