Summary
The IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance Strategy Lead will drive the strategic IT GRC division's vision, operating model, budget and planning activities, and outcomes for the division, which is part of the Information Risk and Cybersecurity (IRC) department. May serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to the VP of IT GRC and leaders within the division.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning

  • Directs IT GRC strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment with key priorities and outcomes.
  • Leads IT GRC strategic initiatives that drive divisional value.
  • Collaborates, plans and organizes with and through people to bridge strategies across teams.
  • Establishes reporting mechanisms to provide leadership visibility into operational KPI's and trending towards target key results.


Business Operations

  • Responsible for strategy and planning to align IT GRC business operations with the department's overarching strategy, mission and goals.
  • Identifies gaps between ideal and current state of operating model and recommends solutions to close the gaps.


Planning Budgeting

  • Partners with Office of the CISO (OCISO) for planning and financial/budgeting process.
  • Aligns divisional planning and budget to functional and company priorities, working cross-functionally with peers in the department.


Meeting Planning

  • Plans and prepares agendas for IT GRC leadership team meetings and planning sessions.
  • Participates in regular IT GRC leadership team meetings to evaluate barriers to success and develop courses of action to overcome issues at the divisional level.
  • Facilitates cross-functional initiatives and the flow of information between stakeholders and other teams.
  • Coordinates requests for information from stakeholders and prepares reports and presentations in response. Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.


Trusted Advisor

  • Represents and provides support to Vice President of IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance (IT GRC) to facilitate effective decision-making which has a significant impact on the organization; this includes strategic planning, road map development, operational planning, leading key divisional priorities, and meeting planning and preparation.
  • Has a high impact on the implementation of strategic initiatives that carry out overarching divisional objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years' leadership experience in information security organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and work across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with comfort in presenting to all organizational levels, including senior leaders.
  • Ability to translate goals and strategies into executable business plans.
  • Demonstrated integrity and proven ability to handle confidential information.
  • High degree of organizational skills to manage competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and ability to anticipate needs in a dynamic environment.

Pay Range - Start:
$115,150.00
Pay Range - End:
$213,850.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
