The Role
We are searching for an experienced IT Category Manager who thrives in an agile and challenging environment, can drive change, and embraces new challenges to improve their area of responsibility.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding and knowledge of IT combined with experience and competence within procurement. Intrum is going through an exciting journey with a modernization of IT, and procurement will be a key part in supporting that journey. Procurement as a function is also fairly new, so being part of the journey to establish processes and ways of working will be part of the job.
You will manage the commercial and contractual aspects of substantial parts of global IT activity, together with the IT function design the global plan for Intrum’s IT spend, support the IT strategy implementation, and collaborate with relevant business lines to ensure smooth procurement delivery. This position will develop and implement IT category plans, conduct sourcing initiatives and coordinate spend under management with Intrum’s overall business goals as well as IT strategies and priorities. Categories include IT Consulting, online services, IT Hardware and Enterprise Infrastructure, and SaaS/Software, among others. There is one other IT Category manager and depending on competence and skill set the categories will be split between the roles.
You will also be the a key contact supporting local procurement resources and teams in IT sourcing topics. The role also entails coaching and supporting both procurement staff and business owners to ensure that they can manage their suppliers and contracts and occasionally self-source.
The position is part of the Global Procurement function and will report to the Global Procurement Director. You are expected to be a self-starter, able to work independently on projects, build and develop new processes, and improve current processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all new IT procurement activities and support business-led sourcing initiatives, becoming a partner that adds value and is preferred by the business. Also, support and carry out ongoing projects for the IT category.
- Move and implement all relevant contracts to ensure supply continuity and reduce risk/cost where possible.
- Create and execute Category Management, which involves developing and coordinating strategy for all IT-related activities, including defining category strategies, finding and carrying out new strategic sourcing initiatives, demand management programs, internal communication of IT initiatives, and reporting of outcomes.
- Ensure that procured products and services align with and support the IT strategy.
- Lead Strategic Sourcing and Negotiation processes to help the IT community on a global level, including global initiatives (e.g., multi-country RFPs).
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, showing substantial professional knowledge of multiple subject areas in IT categories.
- Manage supplier performance, ensuring service consistency, quality, and compliance with contracts and established service level agreements.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in the entire source-to-contract and procure-to-pay end-to-end processes across Intrum.
- Be the main point of contact for all Intrum IT inquiries, new procurement initiatives, and provide help to the business on daily queries and issue resolution.
- Participate in the creation of group procurement strategies and policies.
- Encourage continuous improvement practices and innovation for the category.
- Participate in developing key KPIs for the category and procurement in general.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience working within a corporate procurement environment, ideally with international, global experience in IT and other related categories.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT contracts experience.
- A self-starter, comfortable taking ownership of a full Category Management approach to IT, working without high levels of oversight from the line manager.
- Extensive Excel modeling skills.
- Ability to lead projects and people.
- Experience working in a complex matrix organization.
- Ability to problem-solve and recommend solutions independently.
- Successful experience working on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Proven relationship builder, including with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to complete tasks accurately with strong attention to detail and statistical analysis.
- Fluent in English, written and verbal. Other language skills from our markets are a benefit.
