The WCB Alberta is currently on a multiyear journey to modernize and optimize our technology ecosystem that will achieve our strategic objectives and bolster innovation with a view into the future.  As the trusted technology partner, essential to the fulfillment of WCB’s strategic objectives, the Business Technology Services (BTS) division works collaboratively and creatively with our partners, to provide secure, innovative technology and data solutions that position WCB Alberta as an industry leader in  Workers’ Compensation.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, business leaders, and stakeholders to understand our strategic goals and translate them into robust architectural designs. You will also provide technical leadership in system architecture, design principles, software development methodologies, and selection of information systems.  You will utilize technology architecture principles and frameworks to ensure quality, uniformity, and sustainability throughout the WCB.


Here, you will also have the opportunity to explore and experiment with the latest advancements in technology, such as artificial intelligence and select emerging technologies, for future adoption. 


You will be at the forefront of technical innovation, working with a team of talented professionals to shape the future of our organization's technology initiatives.

 

Your responsibilities:

-Engage with business groups, understand business requirements, and design solution architectures.

-Champion the use of an enterprise architecture framework and toolset.

-Maintain awareness of emerging technology trends and evaluate opportunities.

-Ensure that solutions are designed with core cybersecurity principles.

-Create and maintain reference architecture with standards and governance model.

-Participate in defining enterprise architecture standards and project documentation requirements.

-Lead solution ideas toward project initiation.

-Review and approve assigned application architecture and integration designs.

 

Your experience and skills:

-Proven experience as IT Architect for 5+ years - designing and implementing architectural solutions.

-Strong knowledge of enterprise-level architecture frameworks and methodologies.

-Familiarity with emerging technologies and their practical applications.

-Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

-Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into technical solutions.

-Relevant certifications or degrees in technology-related fields are a plus.

-Strong knowledge or hands-on experience with:

-Programming in one or more languages and frameworks (Python, C#, .NET, JavaScript, etc.)

-Enterprise IT infrastructure (server, storage, network, and systems management disciplines)

-Security protocols (TLS, SAML, OIDC, OAuth2, WS-Security, etc.)

-Databases technologies 

-Container technologies 

-Cloud services (Microsoft Azure, etc.)

-Post-secondary degree from a recognized university in Computing Science or equivalent experience. 

-Experience creating business cases for complex solutions and deployments into production.

-Technical leadership, project management or people leadership experience.

-Enterprise integration – architectures, practices, and patterns on API Management, Event Management, B2B Integration, and etc.

Salary:  $100,683.00 to $146,081.00 per annum (Salary Grade 13 including Market Supplement)


Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown or Calgary, office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
