SAP Firefighter Administrator and GRC Support
The Caterpillar Information Technology ERP Application Security team is seeking a SAP Firefighter (FF) Administrator and GRC Support team member.
The SAP Firefighter (FF) Administrator is responsible for managing the SAP Firefighter functionality, which is part of SAP's Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) module. This role ensures that emergency access is properly provisioned, monitored, and reviewed to maintain compliance and minimize risk within the organization's SAP environment. As a member of the GRC team you will also provide technical and functional support for SAP GRC Access Control and Process Control modules. The role focuses on ensuring system stability, user support, configuration, and continuous improvement in the organization's risk and compliance processes.
What You Do:
  • Administer and maintain SAP Firefighter IDs, including creation, assignment, and removal based on business needs and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and provide monthly Firefighter activity logs, ensuring all emergency access sessions are properly documented and justified.
  • Work closely with controllers and auditors to facilitate periodic access reviews and support compliance audits.
  • Configure and troubleshoot SAP GRC Firefighter settings, resolving user issues and ensuring system stability.
  • Provide training and guidance to users and controllers regarding Firefighter processes and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to Firefighter administration, including procedures, guidelines, and reports.
  • Execute monthly, quarterly and yearly audits for Team accountable controls, providing configuration changes as needed to support business needs.
  • Own, maintain and conduct quarterly/monthly reviews for accountable ITCG's and SOX Controls
  • Provide technical and operational go-live support for releases and deployments.
  • Provide day-to-day support for SAP GRC AC and PC modules, including troubleshooting, resolving system issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in automating controls and risk management processes using GRC PC tools and workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize GRC processes, enhance system performance, and improve user experience.
  • Lead annual SAP GRC disaster recovery.

  • Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
  • IT Standards, Procedures & Policies: Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) standards and policies; ability to utilize a variety of administrative skill sets and technical knowledge to manage organizational IT policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing, and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools, and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
  • Implementation: Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks (ex: accounting or graphic design).
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
  • System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases, and technology platforms.
  • System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Top candidates will also have:
  • Deep understanding of SAP security concepts, role-based access control, and compliance frameworks.
  • Expertise with audit processes, SOX compliance, and risk management principles.
  • Analytical skills to review access logs and identify potential risks or violations.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical teams, business users, and auditors.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities to manage multiple access requests and reviews.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively address issues related to emergency access management.

  • The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL, Irving, TX or Nashville, TN.

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
