Overview:

The IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Technician is responsible for supporting the facility’s Integrated Pest Management program by monitoring, identifying, and controlling pest and disease activity throughout the cultivation environment. This role ensures that all IPM practices are executed safely, effectively, and in compliance with company standards and state regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting all plants and rooms in designated facilities.
  • Completing spray assignments as needed by the IPM Manager.
  • Documenting plant health, pest issues and cleanliness of grow rooms.
  • Taking plant samples for inspection to identify pests or plant health issues.
  • Maintaining a good relationship with staff and management to effectively solve issues and proactively prevent pest issues.
  • Identifying pests and plant health issues and making recommendations on managing any issues. 
  • Work independently with excellent time management skills to inspect all rooms in facilities before light cycle switches off.
  • Maintain equipment necessary for the completion of all tasks.
  • Alerting management as to the location of any identified pest or problem in grow rooms.
  • Provide written instructions as to where said pests are found and how they should be treated.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in pest management, plant care, or cultivation — cannabis or controlled-environment agriculture experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, biological controls, and common pests and diseases affecting cannabis plants.
  • Ability to identify early signs of pest or disease activity through careful observation and consistent monitoring.
  • Familiarity with safe pesticide handling, mixing, and application procedures; state pesticide applicator license or certification preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to follow schedules and work effectively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced cultivation environment.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends, if requested.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain/maintain all state-required cannabis badging, which requires pre-employment background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license or state ID card.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking for long durations. 
  • Must have the ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to use a 12' extension ladder.
  • Allergen warnings - Potential exposure to dust, pollen, and plant pathogens.
  • May require daily use of provided PPE.


Maryland Pay Range
$19$19 USD
