As a fast-growing company, building and maintaining a strong relationship between investors and analysts is critical to Xero’s success. Reporting to the EGM - Investor Relations, the Investor Relations Analyst will play a critical role in the Investor Relations function, and the wider finance team, of one of the world’s fastest-growing and most innovative technology companies. As well as helping to manage the needs of key external stakeholders, the Investor Relations Analyst will also work with the Investor Relations team to provide insights across Xero.

The role involves working closely with the Investor Relations team and a range of Xero stakeholders to support engagement and messaging to an internationally diverse group of investors and analysts. Key relationships include the CEO, CFO, Finance, Sustainability, Corporate Communications Team, Strategy Team, Legal Team and the wider Xero Leadership Team.

What you'll do

  • Be a key contributor to Xero’s investor relations strategy and key projects within Xero’s annual investor/stakeholder engagement program including: Half year and full year results, Annual General Meeting, domestic (Australia and New Zealand) and international investor roadshows, investor conference calls, investor days, Xerocon events and broker-arranged investor conferences
  • Support senior members of the team where relevant in undertaking complex analysis around market expectations and sentiment on behalf of various stakeholders across the business including the Xero Leadership Team and Board
  • Support senior team members in building  responses to inbound investor and analyst queries and organise/host investor meetings  
  • Contribute to preparation of high-quality investor materials and market-related press releases for lodgement on the ASX
  • Contribute to preparation of other external and internal communications including annual/interim reports and investor presentations, Q&A documents, presentations, speaking notes and board papers
  • Support team in interactions with buy and sell side analysts
  • Play a key role in organising half year and year end results investor roadshow
  • Manage a database of analyst forecasts and consensus expectations and ensure these are regularly updated.
  • Conduct frequent in-depth shareholder registry analysis, prepare related board reporting, interact with our share registry provider
  • Play a key role inXero’s pre-AGM engagement strategy including arranging time with management and/or board directors with proxy advisors and shareholder associations
  • Monitor market activity, news flow, peer activity, macro events, internal product development and other relevant indicators for use in engagement with external and internal stakeholders
  • Conduct detailed analysis of and public information releases of key competitors plus relevant industry developments in Australasia and globally
  • Provide occasional support of additional projects and strategic initiatives such as M&A, forecasting/planning and treasury/capital management, ESG related projects

What you'll bring with you

  • Around 2 years work experience. Investor relations, strategy, markets, consulting or finance functions would be viewed favourably
  • Exposure to technology/SaaS/high growth companies will be viewed favourably
  • A strong academic track record with a tertiary qualification in a numerically focused discipline
  • Strong Excel and powerpoint capabilities
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in order to promote ideas and analysis
  • The ability to work comfortably with data and perform analysis and/or create reports with various software packages including Google G Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently on critical corporate and team projects, internal reports and investor-related events
