Job Summary:
As an Investment Finance Analyst, you are responsible for various financial activities and interface regularly with investment accounting, financial planning & analysis, investment operations, financial reporting, investment management and actuarial. as well as external industry contacts. Your key responsibilities include administration of internal pricing models, internal control documentation and procedures in the monthly investment valuation process, analysis of investment results in conjunction with investment accounting and the financial planning and analysis teams in the monthly closing, annual planning and periodic reforecast processes, support of investment related periodic financial reporting—including regulatory and to rating agencies, research of accounting treatment for investment holdings under various accounting standards, principally Statutory Accounting Principles.. You possess strong quantitative and technical skills and have a passion for fixed income securities, accounting, operations, and streamlining processes. Concise writing and communication skills are very important. This position is hybrid based in greater Indianapolis (Zionsville).
Main Accountabilities:

Administer and review results of internal investment valuation model process in accordance with established internal control environment.

Master concepts related to income recognition for various, principally fixed income, investment classes and consult with business partners in production of reporting to support analysis and communication of actual and planned investment income results.

Assist Investment Accounting, Financial Reporting, Actuarial and Financial Planning and Analysis teams with the accurate and timely reporting on the composition of the Investment Portfolio to various internal and external parties, including management, regulators, rating agencies and auditors.

Participate with team to research and prepare technical accounting memos identifying investment types, application of appropriate investment accounting rules, and coordinates with Investment Accounting on application.

Evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls, make recommendations for continuous process improvement and participates with implementation. Maintain and update policy and procedure documentation for streamlined processes.

Assist on key initiatives and projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders across multiple departments to ensure that project deliverables are met.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance

CPA or CPA eligible preferred

1+ years of experience in an accounting role, preferably public accounting experience

Experience in the insurance industry, especially with Statutory Accounting Principles a plus

Experience with Investment Accounting or Investment Management systems a plus

Working knowledge of fixed income investments and derivative instruments a major plus

Advanced working knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $46,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $70,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
