Damen Shipyards Group is committed to becoming the world's most sustainable and digitally connected shipyard. The Damen AI Team develops scalable solutions that drive value across the organization. You'll join Damen in Gorinchem, working on applied AI topics with real business impact.
The role
AI adoption at Damen is accelerating across business units, from shipyard operations to financial services. To turn this momentum into tangible outcomes, we need people who can rapidly translate business challenges into working AI prototypes. As an intern, you'll work directly with business and technical stakeholders to identify high-value use cases, build functional prototypes using low-code and AI-assisted development tools, and support the deployment of automation agents and intelligent workflows across the organization. Your work will have direct visibility with decision-makers and contribute to Damen's broader AI value realization agenda. This internship is available from October onwards, working on-site in Gorinchem.
Key accountabilities
As an intern, you will:
- Engage with business stakeholders across divisions to identify and scope AI use cases
- Rapidly prototype automation agents, workflows, and low-code solutions based on business requirements
- Develop and iterate on Copilot agents, Power Automate flows, and tools using platforms such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Azure
- Use development tools including Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and OpenAI Codex to accelerate prototype development
- Document use cases, technical designs, and prototype outcomes in a structured and reproducible way
- Present prototypes and findings to business stakeholders and the team
- Support the handover of validated prototypes to technical teams for production deployment
- Benchmark Damen's low-code AI approach against industry best practices and emerging tools
Skills & experience
At least several skills/experiences from the following list are required to be considered:
- MSc or advanced Bachelor student at the intersection of Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Management, or a related field
- Hands-on experience or strong interest in low-code development platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform or Copilot Studio
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or OpenAI Codex
- Ability to write basic scripts or automation logic in Python or JavaScript
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured technical solutions
- Fluent in English

Skills Required
