Description of assignmentThe Airports Project Engineering department develops and maintains complex baggage handling systems that require deep domain knowledge. Our daily work involves analyzing technical issues, understanding system behavior, and configuring software based on functional and operational requirements.
We believe that AI can significantly enhance the way we manage knowledge, support engineers, and optimize configuration processes. Instead of building new AI systems, this duo internship assignment focuses on evaluating existing AI tools and determining how they can help us work smarter and more efficiently.
Assignment Objective:
Investigate how existing AI tools can assist our team in:
- Sharing and accessing domain knowledge more effectively
- Analyzing and understanding technical issues
- Supporting the creation, validation, or improvement of system configurations
The Airports Engineering department consists of around 90 professionals, including 20 Controls Engineers. We deliver airport projects worldwide, touching nearly 80% of global airports. With a one-team approach, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Software Engineers work together to translate customer requirements into reliable BHS solutions. Tasks/responsibilitiesAs a duo, you will:
- Research and evaluate AI tools (e.g., copilot, knowledge bases, config validators, natural language interfaces)
- Build one or more small-scale demos using representative configuration files and documentation
- Conduct user testing or feedback sessions with engineers to evaluate usability and value summarize insights, tool comparisons, and next steps in a clear and actionable format
- Interested in AI tools, technical workflows, and process optimization
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a duo
- Able to work independently and communicate clearly
- Affinity with engineering, data interpretation, or system configuration is a plus
- *Mandatory enrolment to a Dutch Education System & resident of The Netherlands.
