Assignment purpose:
Johnson Controls is a global leader in the Building Automation and Security sector. Our EMEA distribution center in Echt/NL is committed to providing a reliable logistics experience to our customers, as well as optimizing our distribution processes and enhancing operational efficiency. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern or bachelor student to join our team and execute a critical project focused on value stream mapping.
The selected candidate will work with our on-site teams for 4-6 months on creating value stream maps at the site level as well as for each of the five departments within our site. This project aims to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and enhance overall performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members and leads of the various department to gather necessary data and insights.
- Develop detailed value stream maps for the site and each department (Inbound, Outbound, Reverse Logistics, Order Management, Import / Export).
- Analyze current flow and identify areas for improvement.
- Present findings and recommendations to the management team.
Expected Results:
- Creation of six comprehensive value stream maps, including process lead times.
- Identification of opportunities for improvement within each value stream.
- High-level ranking and prioritization of improvement opportunities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently in the final year of a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and be disciplined and structured in approach.
- Proficiency in value stream mapping and process analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
