Education required: You are regularly enrolled in a Master’s or late-stage Bachelor’s program in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline in an Educational Establishment located in Europe.

Language requirement: Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. French is recommended

Other requirements:

• Foundational knowledge of analytical techniques (e.g. spectroscopy, chromatography, particle size analysis, microscopy).

• Strong interest in nanotechnology and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems.

• Good quantitative skills and ability to work with experimental data in Excel or similar tools.

• Ability to work systematically, follow experimental protocols and maintain accurate records.

Expected start date: As soon as possible

Duration: 6 months minimum

Requisite: The internship must be mandatory & done in the framework of the curriculum, for which an agreement must be signed between GSK, the student and the Educational Establishment.

Remuneration: according to Belgian legal requirements, the internship will not be paid. However, some expenses will be reimbursed.

As an intern in the Drug Product Development (DPD) Process Engineering team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of one new innovative analytical technique to characterize nanoparticle-based drug products (Electrical Impedance Cytometry, EIC). You will work closely with scientists to evaluate and optimize methods that support robust product understanding and quality.

What will you do?

• Support the development, optimization and validation of new analytical methods for nanoparticle characterization (e.g. size, morphology, surface properties, aggregation).

• Perform laboratory experiments under supervision, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and data acquisition.

• Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate software tools; summarize findings in clear data tables and figures.

• Contribute to method documentation (SOP drafts, method development reports, experimental logs).

• Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues in DPD to understand project needs and align analytical work with development objectives.

• Present results in team meetings and contribute to scientific discussions on method performance and next steps.

• Adhere to laboratory safety, data integrity and quality standards at all times.
