Job Summary
The Absa Group Internal Audit (IA) function is seeking an Internal Auditor to join the Internal Audit Finance and Tax team. Key to this role is the ability to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, execute audit assignments in the Finance function in accordance with the Group Audit Plan and Internal Audit methodology, relevant policies, procedures and quality standards. Key accountabilities:
Participate in the annual audit planning cycle, provide input by taking into account the risk and control profile, business strategy and material risks affecting the business.
Perform risk assessments to identify high risk areas within Finance and Tax or impacting the environment that requires focus.
Actively participate in all the audit phases - planning and scoping (identification of risks and controls), fieldwork (execution of design and operating effectiveness assessments) and reporting (ensure audit observations and planned actions are agreed with management for factual accuracy). In addition, assist the Audit team with the validation of audit issues.
Keep the Audit team up to date on key regulations and policies relating to Finance & Tax functions.
Provide the Audit team with write-ups on key risk assessments and risk profile for the Finance & Tax functions.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of the audit methodology, by attending training sessions and using knowledge gained during audits, use this proactively in executing audit activities.
Improve Finance & Tax knowledge (i.e. general and technical) through self-learning, external workshops or training for professional qualification.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
CA(SA) professional qualification
Preferred Experience:
Minimum of three years’ experience in external or internal audit, or equivalent finance experience within a major financial institution.
Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of the banking sector.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in drafting test strategies and testing Finance general controls.
Ability to articulate complex issues clearly
Displays good knowledge of Finance processes
Awareness of regulatory and compliance environment – specifically to Finance environment
