The Role

About the teamThe Internal Audit team builds trusted, independent partnerships across Zillow to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance - while identifying practical improvements that help teams move faster and safer. We operate as Zillow’s “third line,” reporting functionally to the Audit Committee and administratively to the CFO.

About the role

You’ll help build a new Operational Audit function from the ground up that will provide both assurance and advisory across Zillow - blending process depth with technology fluency to help teams move faster, safer, and smarter. This is an opportunity to shape the audit roadmap and partner with leaders to turn insights into measurable improvements that advance our strategy and strengthen resilience. You’ll bring clarity, momentum, and pragmatic solutions to high-impact, cross-functional work.

You will get to

  • Help stand up and scale a new operational audit program: define scope, methodology, and rhythms that integrate assurance and advisory for high-risk, high-impact areas.

  • Lead and support end-to-end audits from risk assessment through reporting and follow-up, driving clear action plans and validating remediation.

  • Blend technology and operations: assess controls across technical and business processes to surface root causes and sustainable solutions.

  • Run crisp stakeholder engagement: set expectations, socialize observations, and present findings to senior leaders with clear options, tradeoffs, and decisions.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $109,000.00 - $174,000.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $103,500.00 - $165,300.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you are
  • Experienced auditor with a strong blend of operational and technology expertise; you’ve led audits that span business processes and IT, and you translate technical detail into business impact.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute end-to-end audits (risk assessment, scoping, walkthroughs, testing, reporting, remediation validation) and to stand up new programs or capabilities.

  • Skilled communicator and facilitator - able to “say it clearly,” earn trust with stakeholders, and drive alignment on right-sized, time-bound action plans.

  • Strong judgment and results driven; you focus on material risks, propose practical solutions, and can operate in ambiguity while maintaining independence.

  • 6+ years of Internal Audit experience. Certifications such as CISA, CIA, CISSP, or CPA are a plus.

  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.

What We Do

Join our mission to give the people power to unlock life’s next chapter. Our homes are the heartbeat of our lives, and we believe that finding a home shouldn’t be so hard in today’s always-on world. That’s why we’re reimagining the traditional rules of real estate to make it easier than ever to move from one home to the next. Our journey began nearly 15 years ago with a handful of employees and one big idea: to make it radically easier for people to move. We began by helping people understand and track their homes with the Zestimate, our proprietary algorithm, and then with advanced technology and valuable connections with real estate professionals. Today, Zillow has become a household name. People are more likely to search for “Zillow” than “real estate,” and our name is often used as a verb. While other industries have ushered in a new era of convenience, the time for seamless and convenient real estate experience is now. This is our next chapter as a company. We’re looking for smart, passionate adventurers to join us as we reimagine the real estate transaction and change the way people buy, sell, rent and finance their homes.
