Who We Are:

At Bandwidth, we shape how the world connects. We're the global communications software company and Tier 1 network operator with global reach.  The voice, messaging, and emergency services infrastructure behind the brands and apps you use every day.

Because we own the network we build on, the problems you'll solve here are bigger, more complex, and more impactful. And as communications shifts to AI, we're the infrastructure layer making it possible.

We call ourselves BANDmates because building something this big takes collaboration, different perspectives, and the freedom to bring your authentic self to the table.

We're experts who speak like humans. Ready to build what's next? #JoinTheBand

What We Are Looking For:

Bandwidth's Network Strategy team manages the systems behind voice network costing, routing, pricing, and carrier relations. We're looking for an Internal Applications Engineer who loves building things that make people's work smarter — someone who can craft the internal tools, automations, and AI-powered solutions that keep our network running smoothly and efficiently.

You'll work across the full stack — Python scripts, API integrations, React apps, and Snowflake pipelines — and you'll use AI development tools as a core part of how you work. If you get excited about solving real operational problems with smart engineering, this is the role for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Automate what slows us down. Dig into voice costing, routing, pricing, and carrier management workflows to find where work could be optimized — then build smart solutions using generative AI, workflow orchestration, and conventional software to fix it.
  • Build internal tools teams actually love. Develop and maintain user-facing applications, deployed on the team's AWS and Snowflake infrastructure. We care a lot about reliability and clean user experiences.
  • Configure and maintain integrations between Bandwidth's operational platforms — ServiceNow, Drivetrain, TEOCO, Snowflake, and others — using Software to identify, orchestrate across systems and streamline workflows with best ROI.
  • Support data pipelines. Help build and maintain workflows that land data from operational systems into Snowflake so downstream teams always have what they need.
  • Put AI to work. Use LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, and others) to build solutions that surface insights, automate responses, and sharpen decision-making. Lean on AI-assisted tools like Claude Code as a daily part of your workflow.
  • Write scripts that scale. Build Python and JavaScript automations to reduce repetitive work and extend capabilities across the team's stack.
  • Test, ship, and iterate. Write tests alongside your code (not as an afterthought), collect feedback from real users, and keep making things better.
  • Document as you go. Leave things better than you found them — clear documentation of what you built, why, and how to operate it.
  • Collaborate with people who care. Work with teammates across Network Strategy, carrier relations, pricing, cost management and finance to understand what they need, share what you're building, and help new tools land well.

What You Need:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.

Experience

  • Python and/or JavaScript in a production or project context
  • REST API integration, in any language or platform
  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms
  • Experience with SQL and Snowflake
  • Regular use of AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks like Pytest or Vitest — you write tests alongside code, not after the fact
  • Exposure to developing in cloud platforms like AWS

Technical Skills

  • Software fundamentals: functions, data structures, control flow, and writing code other people can read and maintain
  • Ability to read API docs, parse error messages, and diagnose issues on your own
  • Understanding of authentication patterns (API keys, OAuth, tokens) and when to use them
  • Familiarity with JSON, webhooks, and event-driven patterns
  • Basic understanding of containerization and cloud deployment
  • Ability to build and maintain databases, create schemas, and generate SQL’s
  • Understanding of data security and privacy best practices

Soft Skills

  • You communicate clearly — whether you're working with an engineer or a business stakeholder
  • You adapt well when priorities shift (and they will)
  • You follow a problem until you truly understand it, not just until it stops throwing errors
  • You take quality seriously: documentation, testing, and clean code matter to you

Bonus Points

  • Basic knowledge of Voice Telecom Networks
  • You can write working Python, Java and debug problems independently
  • You use Git as a habit — commit often, review incrementally
  • You can explain what you built, the tradeoffs you made, and how to run it in production
  • You're genuinely curious and persistent — you like understanding why, not just what

What We Do

Bandwidth is a software company that’s transforming the way people communicate and challenging the standards of old telecom. Together with our customers, we’re unlocking remarkable value, questioning the status quo, and helping people interact with technology and one another, oftentimes in ways they never dreamed possible. Haven’t heard of Bandwidth? You’ve probably used one of our products before. We power some of the most important communications technologies on the market today—names like Google, Skype and Ring Central to name a few. At Bandwidth, we’ve got a passion for doing things the other way—imagining what they could be and uncovering opportunities to take a new approach to create what should be. We’re out to disrupt the century-old rules of the telecom industry—and that means doing things differently in every area of our business. It’s in the way we treat our people, and how we create with our customers. Whether our engineering teams are crunching code during all-night hack-a-thons or our team members are competing in a Big Idea competition, we love to dive in and get our hands dirty. No idea at Bandwidth is too big or too small, and every voice gets a listen. Our folks have diverse backgrounds from all over the world. Crave innovation? We live for it. No one here is getting a blue ribbon for shaking their head and agreeing with the higher ups. At Bandwidth, we don’t hold back. We speak our minds, share our ideas—and let them soar. We think, we dream, we reimagine what’s possible…because we know that’s the only way we can unlock remarkable value. And that’s what really gets us fired up.
