Summary Generated by Built In

The University of Southern Maine’s Office of Educator Preparation, Art Education Program, and the Department of Teacher Education seeks qualified candidates to serve in the role of Art Education internship field supervisor.

Field supervisors typically oversee 2-4 interns per semester, largely within the same school district or neighboring school districts. They act as the liaison between the university’s Art Education program and the intern and mentor-teacher in the classroom. For each intern, the supervisor conducts goal-setting and mid- and end-of-placement evaluations with the intern and mentor-teacher; completes a minimum of two formal meetings and two classroom observations per placement, along with informal classroom observations as needed throughout the two semester internship. The supervisor also provides an end of semester evaluation for each intern. The supervisor controls their own schedule, arranging all meetings and observations. Supervisors can expect consistent communication with and support from the Art Education faculty.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee 2-4 interns per semester
  • Serve as the liaison between the university art education faculty and the intern and mentor-teacher in the classroom
  • Conduct goal-setting and mid- and end-of-placement evaluations with each intern and mentor-teacher
  • Complete a minimum of two formal classroom observations and two meetings with each mentor and student intern per placement.
  • Informal classroom observations as needed
  • Provides end of semester evaluation for each intern

$375 per intern placement per semester, with mileage reimbursement.
