Intern – IT Network Operations
JOB SUMMARY
Jump start your IT career with Ryder Systems, Inc.! Ryder’s Information Technology organization is strategically focused on growing the supply chain and transportation businesses through new technology-driven solutions that focus on optimizing transportation and supply chain networks.
The Network Operations Intern will perform a variety of job functions which includes data/trend analytics based on info from SolarWinds and other IT Tools. Monitor network performance in the areas of response, throughput, and availability. Monitors, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves network problems. Creates and maintains comprehensive department documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create or update Department documentation.
- Update network monitoring tools with Site information.
- Monitor alarm conditions on the network to proactively identify and minimize network disruption.
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers to resolve WAN problems.
- Interaction with business users and technical teams.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
- H.S. diploma/GED - High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Currently enrolled toward a degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related IT field
EXPERIENCE
0 to One (1) year experience with Microsoft Excel which includes VLOOKUPS and Pivot tables. Network support knowledge.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data analysis from multiple spreadsheets)
- Good communication skills with technical and non-technical members of the extended team
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
- Ability to work independently and as member of a team
- Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
- Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
Knowledge
General IT Network knowledge (WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, IP based networks) preferred.

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
