Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Accounting Intern will support the Finance Department by assisting with account reconciliations, financial reporting, and departmental projects. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting operations within a corporate banking environment. Working alongside experienced team members, the intern will learn key processes, strengthen technical skills, and contribute to improving overall team efficiency.

Primary Accountabilities
 

  • Assist with daily and monthly account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of financial reports.
  • Participate in departmental projects aimed at improving processes and workflow efficiencies.
  • Learn and assist with tasks related to corporate accounting and financial operations.
  • Collaborate with team members across the Finance Department to gain exposure to diverse areas of the organization.
  • Participate in weekly check-ins and feedback sessions to track progress and skill development.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Finance or Accounting, with at least two years of coursework completed.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams, with the ability to learn new software and programs.
  • Works well independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and eagerness to learn.

Internship Details:

  • Internship duration: Must be available mid-May through late July 2026.
  • Schedule: Must be available Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (40 hours/week).
  • Must reside locally and report to the Effingham, IL Corporate Office.
  • May work from home one day per week.
