What you'll bring with you:
- Experience in software development, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
- Proficiency in NodeJS, Typescript & React, with practical experience in building applications using any of these frameworks.
- Proven ability to independently design, implement, and deliver production-ready features while debugging complex issues and maintaining application stability in a commercial environment.
- Proven experience in building, contributing to, or working with design systems to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability in product development.
- A solid understanding of the development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment. Familiarity with on-call duties, monitoring and observability tooling, including running systems in production at scale.
- Familiarity with modern development tools and practices, with exposure to cloud platforms like AWS being a bonus.
- A collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex challenges into manageable solutions.
- A growth mindset, eager to learn and improve while contributing to a supportive team environment. Bachelor’s degree majoring in Software Engineering, or other related disciplines.
What you'll do:
- Design, maintain and develop high-performance, custom built complex design systems which power sites visited by 1million+ users and scalable user interfaces (UIs) for web applications using React, Next, React Testing Library and Storybook frameworks
- Gathering of user analytics data and behaviour through multiple tools, providing operational insights and optimization strategies.
- Collaborating with UI/UX designers to refine user flows and interactions for intuitive and engaging interfaces.
- Compliance with regulatory bodies around accessibility requirements to meet WCAG. "Ensures all user interfaces are developed to meet standards, creating inclusive digital experiences for all users.
- Providing expert guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and understanding of complex frontend architectures and best practices.
- Conducting code reviews, offering constructive feedback, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and design principles across the team.
- Facilitating Agile/Scrum ceremonies (e.g., daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives) to ensure efficient team collaboration and project delivery.
- Execution of multi quarter periods for UI modernisation, including project rollout and approaches to management
- Develops comprehensive operational runbooks to proactively maintain high system availability and ensure rapid incident resolution
- Create high-quality, scalable software that addresses customer needs and drives business growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and to implement features.
- Uphold engineering excellence by driving best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges to maintain system stability and performance.
- Contribute to and promote Xero's engineering standards and practices. Embrace agile methodologies and actively seek to improve team processes.
