Position Responsibilities
- Performs structural engineering design and prepares design and construction documents relative to a specific area of the project.
- Solves problems in connection with structural engineering segments of projects.
- Works with junior engineers and BIM technicians in preparation of drawings and engineering design and analysis.
- Checks and coordinates details and dimensions.
- Reviews structural engineering documents for code compliance.
- Provides independent general drafting work relating to more complicated areas of the project.
- Reviews shop drawings and product submittals for general conformance with the structural engineering documents.
- Confer with the design team during various stages of project development as necessary.
- Reliably handles a reasonable workload and manages own time with the direction of a supervisor to meet project task deadlines and commitments.
- Generates and filters ideas relative to the task in hand for review and selection by others.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or B.Eng required. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering a plus.
- Professional licensure process is close to completion; LEED accreditation preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in design development, structural analysis, documentation and detailing on a variety of projects.
- Exhibits initiative, process innovation, and problem solving with a high attention to precision and accuracy at a task-specific level.
- Regularly collaborates at a project team level by critically and constructively evaluating ideas and is open to new points of view.
- Effectively communicates internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
- Demonstrates general knowledge of site planning, civil, structural and mechanical, electrical engineering, and architectural practice.
- Demonstrates practical knowledge of building codes.
- Possesses intermediate knowledge of computational and FEM tools for daily use on project design.
