Job Description

Wolt is a Finnish technology company and we’re best known for our food delivery platform. In 2017, Wolt operated in 4 countries and 10 cities across the Nordics. Our Finance team has played a key role in this journey – supporting our global operations from their central Helsinki hub has been no easy feat, but this group of dedicated and motivated professionals have made it seem effortless!

As an Intercompany Accountant, Team Lead, you will oversee all intercompany transaction processes across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You’ll lead a team and collaborate across departments, ensuring the accurate recording, reconciliation, and settlement of intercompany accounts. You’ll also play a key role in process improvement initiatives, aiming to enhance automation and efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing

Transaction Processing

• Oversee intercompany transaction processing, including verifying and reviewing requests.
• Determine appropriate accounting details for intercompany transactions (GL accounts, Cost Center / Team Dimensions, Tax Codes, etc.).
• Post intercompany journal entries across multiple entities, ensuring both sides are recorded.
• Collaborate with accounting contacts on other intercompany transactions such as Intercompany Loans, Interests, Cost recharges etc
• Monitor pending intercompany requests, providing status updates to relevant parties.
• Prepare accruals for recurring transactions such as goods and cash in transit.
• Ensure timely expense recognition for year-end intercompany accruals.

Reconciliation

• Conduct preliminary and final intercompany reconciliations across all locations.
• Resolve reconciling items within month-end reporting timelines for significant items and within two months for smaller discrepancies.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations at required intervals

Settlement

• Coordinate with Treasury for settlement of intercompany payments and collections.
• Prepare intercompany-related payments and collections documentation.

Other Responsibilities

• Manage more complex intercompany transactions, ensuring compliance with tax codes and legal requirements.
• Manage internal and external audits by providing necessary data and reports.
• Develop and improve intercompany process and lead the implementation of these projects.
• May require flexibility for short periods to cover cut-off and closing weeks.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in intercompany accounting or general accounting/reporting in a multinational environment.
• Experience in a team leadership role, managing small teams or projects.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and preferably also US GAAP.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to handle complex transactions and intercompany processes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with cross-functional teams.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Preferred: Master in Accounting, ACCA qualification or equivalent.
