We are seeking an experienced Intelligent Automation Architect to design, govern, and evolve enterprise automation solutions that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and create repeatable business value. This role partners closely with sales, presales, delivery, and client stakeholders to shape automation opportunities, define solution architecture, and guide the technical direction of automation initiatives across a broad technology landscape. The role also supports the development, management, and maintenance of AI-enabled assets used within service delivery platforms, ensuring these capabilities are scalable, supportable, and aligned to operational and client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with Sales and Presales teams to identify existing automation solutions that can be redeployed, adapted, or extended to meet client needs.
- Design fit-for-purpose automation solutions based on agreed blueprints, reference architectures, and business use cases.
- Lead technical discussions, workshops, and solution walkthroughs with clients to gain alignment and approval.
- Create, document, and maintain the target-state technical architecture for automation solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and operational supportability.
- Own and maintain the automation use case backlog and library, using data analytics, operational insights, runbooks, and existing automations to prioritise opportunities.
- Evaluate and recommend the most appropriate automation approach across technologies such as RPA, Ansible, scripting, orchestration, and ServiceNow integrations.
- Develop, manage, and maintain AI-enabled assets used within service delivery platforms, ensuring they are governed appropriately, integrated effectively, and aligned to operational use cases.
- Harvest proven custom solutions developed in the field, standardise them into repeatable patterns or assets, and enable their reuse across clients, platforms, and service delivery teams.
- Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers and testers, providing technical direction, quality oversight, and support for capability development.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform, and service teams to ensure automation solutions align with enterprise standards and delivery capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership during solution shaping, estimation, and transition from presales into delivery.
- Promote reuse, standardisation, and governance across the automation estate to reduce duplication and accelerate time to value.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing solution performance, identifying optimisation opportunities, and refining architecture patterns over time.
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise automation solutions in complex IT environments.
- Strong understanding of automation architecture principles, integration patterns, and solution governance.
- Hands-on knowledge of automation technologies such as RPA platforms, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or other scripting tools.
- Experience integrating automation solutions with platforms such as ServiceNow and related enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled platform capabilities, including how AI assets are developed, deployed, maintained, and governed within operational environments.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate automation engineers and testers across solution design and delivery activities.
- Ability to translate business requirements and operational pain points into scalable technical solutions.
- Strong client-facing communication skills, with the ability to lead technical conversations with both business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience managing or shaping use case pipelines and prioritising work based on value, feasibility, and operational data.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure, cloud, service management, and operational processes.
- Strong documentation skills, including architecture artefacts, solution designs, and technical standards.
- Collaborative working style with the ability to influence across sales, delivery, and engineering teams.
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to turn automation opportunities into practical, reusable solutions that support client outcomes and delivery efficiency. The Intelligent Automation Architect will be expected to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, maintain a healthy and prioritised backlog of automation use cases, establish architecture patterns that enable scalable, supportable, and commercially viable automation across the organisation, lead a capable team of automation engineers and testers, and convert proven field-developed solutions into standardised assets that can be reused at scale. Success will also depend on effectively introducing, governing, and maintaining AI-enabled assets within service delivery platforms so they deliver measurable operational value while remaining reliable, secure, and fit for purpose.
