Moonshot believes that marginalized people in society, including people of colour, Indigenous people, people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, women, Disabled people, and LGBTQIA+ people, must be centred in the work we do. We strongly encourage applications from people with these identities, or from other communities currently underrepresented in our workforce.

All qualified applicants will be afforded equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, creed, colour, national origin, sex, age, disability, or marital status. We know a diverse workforce will enable us to understand the drivers behind violent extremism and online harms in greater depth, and to do better work to counter them.

About the role

Are you passionate about protecting high-profile individuals, organizations, and the public from online threats and targeted violence? Do you have experience in OSINT investigations or intelligence analysis, gained within a government agency, fusion centre, law enforcement body, corporate or executive security function, GSOC, or a comparable intelligence background?

Moonshot is recruiting an Intelligence Analyst to join our threat monitoring team. In this role, you will conduct daily monitoring and OSINT investigations into online threats, lead the development of risk assessments, provide expert guidance to clients, and contribute to producing high quality, actionable insights.

You will work across the full intelligence cycle. This includes defining intelligence requirements, conducting ongoing monitoring across client accounts, and running discrete digital investigations into specific incidents. The role requires you to meet a dynamic set of client needs and think creatively, distilling large volumes of social media and open source data into clear, actionable analysis for a range of stakeholders. As part of a growing team, you will also help identify ways to improve our investigative processes and methodology.

This is a remote position. Candidates must be based in Ontario, Canada, due to employment and regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct daily monitoring and OSINT investigations into a range of online harms, including impersonation, stalking, NCII/deepfake content, doxxing, and threat attribution.
  • Lead the development of risk assessments and threat classifications, ensuring judgments are precise, evidence based, and relevant to client needs.
  • Distill large volumes of social media and open source data into clear, actionable analysis.
  • Develop reports and briefings tailored to client requirements.
  • Escalate high priority threats promptly, supporting communication with platform trust and safety contacts, legal teams, and law enforcement partners where appropriate.
  • Manage a demanding reporting schedule across multiple concurrent accounts, balancing time, scope, and quality.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Moonshot's investigative methodology and tools.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Professional experience conducting OSINT investigations or intelligence analysis, gained within a government agency, fusion centre, law enforcement body, corporate or executive security function, GSOC, or a comparable intelligence background.
  • Strong OSINT skills and social media investigation experience, with the ability to work independently through large, messy datasets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intelligence cycle, including defining requirements, building a collection plan, and producing analysis from it.
  • Sound judgment on threat credibility, able to assess risk based on intent and capability rather than volume of activity alone.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities across multiple accounts without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong problem solving skills, comfortable working through ambiguous or incomplete information to reach a sound conclusion.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate findings into clear, actionable outputs.
  • Track record of producing investigative or intelligence products for internal or client stakeholders.
  • Comfortable regularly reviewing sensitive and potentially distressing content, including material related to violence, abuse, or exploitation.
  • Strong collaborator, able to work well within a team and build trust with colleagues and clients alike.
  • This role suits someone ready to work independently day to day, rather than someone overseeing a team or a full client portfolio.
  • Willingness to occasionally be on call and work outside regular hours for urgent client needs or special events.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada, and will be required to undertake and pass a standard background check, along with any relevant security clearance procedures per client needs.

Desirable:

  • Experience using AI tools to support research or writing workflows, or a strong interest in learning to do so.

Benefits
  • 25 days paid vacation leave, plus Statutory Holiday
  • Flexible public holiday policy with the option to work statutory holidays in exchange for a day off at another time.
  • Group healthcare package, including coverage for partners and children (80% Co-Insurance).
  • HSA is restricted to mental health practitioners only
  • Dental & Vision Insurance (80% Co-Insurance).
  • Life & LTD Disability Insurance.
  • 24/7 access to counselling via our Employee Assistance Program.

  • All permanent employees are granted share options upon employment.

Salary: $55,000 - $64,000 CAD (depending on skills and experience).
