Integration Engineer (Core Network Infra Team)
About the role
The Cloud IP Integration Engineer is an integration engineer role, primarily responsible for building core network infrastructure and performing IP and switch configuration for cloud-based core network and service platforms. The role is hands-on and technically deep, focusing on Layer 2/Layer 3 network design, switch operation, and end-to-end integration in lab and pre-production environments.
You will work closely with cloud, core network, and infrastructure teams to ensure stable, secure, and high-performance connectivity for our cloud solutions. The role includes participation in an on-call rotation and support for night-time change requests (CRs) when required.
Key responsibilities
- Installation cloud-native and virtualized Core Network functions (CNFs/VNFs) customer environments.
- Execute integration and verification activities for IP/network services.
- Collaborate with Cloud / Virtualization teams to integrate IP networking with cloud platforms (e.g., OpenStack).
- Collaborate with 2 nd line support, solution design, and customer-facing teams to reproduce issues, test fixes, and validate solutions.
- Participate in on-call / standby support rotation for high-priority incidents as required.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs), runbooks, and configuration baselines for supported environments.
- Drive hardware vendors to perform troubleshooting and coordinate hardware replacement (HW) when required.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Typically 3-6 years of hands-on experience in IP networking in data center, enterprise, or telecom environments.
- Hands-on experience with Linux system administration and basic networking (IP routing, firewalls, load balancing, DNS).
- Practical experience with container platforms and orchestration, ideally Kubernetes (deployment, pods, services, config, logs).
- Practical experience using network diagnostic tools (ping, traceroute, tcpdump/Wireshark, CLI debug commands) to troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.
- Ability to write and execute integration and test cases, and to document results clearly.Good English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
Preferred qualifications
- Understanding of mobile core network concepts (4G EPC and/or 5G Core), such as:
- AMF/SMF/UPF, MME/SGW/PGW, PCRF/PCF, UDM/UDR, IMS basics
- Experience with public or private cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenStack or telco cloud platforms).
- Knowledge of telecom protocols (SIP, Diameter, HTTP/2, SCTP) and related troubleshooting tools (tcpdump, Wireshark).
- Experience in a 24x7 operations or customer support environment, including on-call duties.
- Exposure to security, resilience, and high availability concepts for mission-critical systems.
- Certifications in cloud, Kubernetes, or networking (e.g., CKA, CCNA/CCNP, cloud provider certifications) are a plus.
