Vast is looking for an Integration Engineer II, reporting to the Sr Director, Integration, to support the development of the systems required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, exempt position in our Long Beach location. 

As an Integration Engineer, you will develop creative solutions to complex assembly and production problems. You will play a critical role in our development and production teams creating integration procedures and processes for efficient manufacturability. Your input will be vital in transitioning the space station from design to a built and tested station ready to host humans in space. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the assembly and inspection procedures for the structural, propulsion and avionics assembly and integration of the spacecraft and launch vehicle 
  • Enable day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow
  • Interface with both engineers and technicians to optimize the integration flow and processes
  • Ensure integration procedures are continuously evolving to reflect the most efficient assembly practices
  • Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all requirements including safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery
  • Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve complex production issues
  • Work with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and implementation in a continuously evolving production environment
  • Document and provide resolution to non-conformances and collaborate with the quality team to implement root cause corrective actions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, electrical, industrial engineering or similar field
  • 3+ years of related engineering experience
  • Hands on hardware integration or manufacturing experience

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with the build, assembly, or integration of large mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts in a production environment within the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent judgments with limited information.
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures, and providing go/no-go judgment and rationale
  • Experience running vehicle level system verifications, leak checks, and environmental tests.
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.
  • 6+ years of related engineering experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted


Pay Range: 

  • Engineer II: $100,000 - $145,000



Salary Range: California

$100,000$145,000 USD

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package.
