  • Build national and local campaigns: Lead a mix of national paid-media campaigns and locally tailored efforts that reach policymakers, civic and community leaders, influential stakeholders, and the broader public.

  • Translate complex issues into compelling stories: Turn nuanced topics—including AI infrastructure, data centers, jobs, economic opportunity, and youth safety—into clear, credible, and engaging narratives for diverse audiences.

  • Own campaigns from strategy through measurement: Manage the full campaign lifecycle, including audience insights, briefs, creative development, media strategy, stakeholder alignment, execution, launch, optimization, and post-campaign analysis.

  • Connect policy expertise with brand building: Ensure policy-focused communications strengthen the broader OpenAI brand, create greater understanding of our mission, and build long-term trust.

  • Champion creative excellence: Partner with internal creative teams and external agencies to develop distinctive, culturally relevant work while maintaining accuracy and sound judgment on sensitive topics.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Global Affairs, Communications, Creative, Research, Product, and other partners to align priorities, navigate complex issues, and bring campaigns to market effectively.

  • Develop audience and market insight: Build a deep understanding of policy, civic, and local audiences and use research, data, and cultural insight to determine the most effective messages, channels, and messengers.

  • Measure and improve impact: Establish clear campaign objectives and measurement plans, using results and audience feedback to continuously strengthen our strategy and execution.

You will thrive in this role if you have:

  • Relevant experience: 12+ years of experience in integrated marketing, brand marketing, corporate reputation, public affairs, policy communications, or advertising, including significant experience leading complex, high-profile campaigns.

  • Integrated campaign leadership: Proven success managing campaigns across paid, owned, earned, experiential, and community channels, with strong strategic and project-management skills.

  • Exceptional judgment: The ability to navigate sensitive, fast-moving, and highly visible issues with care, accuracy, and an understanding of reputational and policy considerations.

  • Communication and influence: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and influence decisions at the executive level.

  • Cross-functional leadership: A track record of bringing together teams with different perspectives and areas of expertise to deliver against a shared objective.

  • Agility and adaptability: Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adjusting strategies in response to new developments, audience insights, and external dynamics.
