The purpose of this role is to lead media transformation and drive a superior full-funnel paid media capability for the Mars Canada Business. With the media landscape continuing to change and fragment, the Integrated Communications & Media Senior Manager will guide our portfolio of brands in navigating a more complex and dynamic media world that is increasingly digital and data driven. The ICM Senior Manager must effectively lead and manage a media agency team across functional disciplines (including Planning & Buying, Business Science & Analytics, Data Strategy, Media Ops, and Strategy) to develop and deploy media investment in the marketplace in a manner that maximizes short term return and builds long term value for pet parents and our brands.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • 5-7 years of prior media experience required, preferably at a leading media agency.
  • Proven effective media expertise, especially within digital, mobile and emerging channels, with emphasis on intelligent reach and audience based, data-centric planning.
  • Proficient in managing complex projects/Well organized, good at prioritization and attentive to details.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, listening). This includes ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management.
  • High levels of interpersonal skills specifically in influencing, resolving conflict, and creative problem solving.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Creating and driving the full-funnel media investment strategy for the Canada Brands portfolio.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders/media experts in providing media guidance and support for all brands, pro-actively moving forward the Marketing Transformation and ECom Acceleration agendas.
  • Leading ongoing media investment scenario planning & optimization with the Canada leadership team and close partnership with CFO to enable agile planning and decision making across “above and below the line” investments.
  • Leading the relationship with our media agencies, working closely with senior agency leaders and Mars Commercial to ensure appropriate staffing & ways of working of the agency team.
  • Identifying optimal media mix and strategic investment approach via tried and true and emerging channels and tactics, video neutral approach, mobile and social to deliver break-through reach, impact and balance between short term return & long-term value creation.
  • Leading day to day efforts with media agency partners to develop and optimize plans and execution, ensuring effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Developing smart, strategic narratives in support of our Core Brands’ strategies over the near term and annual planning horizons.
  • Setting ambitious, quantifiable goals for media plans to deliver on brands’ business objectives via both strategic media approach and marketplace approach.
  • Providing regular media consultation to our brand teams and other cross functional partners including OMNI, Corporate Affairs, PDS and Sales. 
  • Spearheading Media Insights & Effectiveness initiatives to identify and implement appropriate testing structures and methodologies.
  • Cross-segment collaboration with U.S. and Global to ensure timely sharing of concerns, best practices, etc.
  • Guiding day-to-day strategic partnership framework implementation with TikTok, Google, Amazon, Meta etc. to drive our media agenda into the future. Specifically:
    • Elevating how we partner to deliver objectives outlined through annual joint business plans.
    • Leading Quarterly Business Reviews with each partner and agency teams to identify wins and opportunities.
