Position
Overview
Our
client is seeking to recruit an experienced IFRS 17 Specialist to
support the delivery of accurate and compliant financial reporting. Reporting
to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Controls, the successful
candidate will play a key role in maintaining IFRS 17 reporting processes,
enhancing financial reporting systems, and collaborating with Finance,
Actuarial, IT, and Regulatory teams to ensure timely and accurate financial
reporting in Barbados.
This
role requires a strong understanding of insurance accounting, IFRS 17,
financial modelling, data analysis, and insurance reporting systems.
Duties
& Responsibilities:
- Prepare and support
the production of IFRS 17 financial statements, disclosures, and
regulatory reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable
accounting standards.
- Interpret and apply
IFRS 17 requirements while supporting the ongoing enhancement of reporting
processes and system functionality.
- Extract, consolidate,
validate, and reconcile financial and actuarial data from multiple sources
to support IFRS 17 reporting.
- Maintain the integrity
of IFRS 17 reporting data through detailed reconciliations and robust
financial controls.
- Analyse insurance
results and provide financial insights to support management reporting and
strategic decision-making.
- Monitor developments
in IFRS 17 and assess the impact of changes on the Company's financial
reporting framework.
- Lead or support
post-implementation improvements to IFRS 17 processes, reporting
methodologies, and system integrations.
- Identify opportunities
to automate reporting activities and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely
with Finance, Actuarial, IT, Regulatory Reporting, and Audit teams to
ensure consistency and accuracy across financial reporting.
- Assist with the
implementation of new accounting policies, reporting requirements, and
finance transformation initiatives.
- Prepare supporting
schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Participate in special
projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's,
or Doctoral degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional
accounting designation such as CPA, CA, or ACCA is highly
desirable.
- Minimum of 3–5
years' relevant experience in insurance accounting, financial
reporting, audit, or finance, depending on academic qualifications.
- Demonstrated
experience implementing or supporting IFRS 17 reporting within the
insurance sector.
- Strong understanding
of International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly IFRS 17.
- Experience with
financial reporting systems such as SAP, Power BI, or similar reporting
and analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of insurance
accounting, actuarial reporting concepts, and financial modelling
techniques.
- Experience working
with large datasets and performing detailed financial reconciliations.
