The Instructional Designer collaborates with various business units in the organization to bring innovation to learning and development at Essex. We are seeking a talented and experienced Instructional Designer to join our team and play a crucial role in creating engaging and effective learning experiences for our organization. As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions that align with our learning & development vision and enhance the overall learning journey for our associates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Create learning resources, such as assessments, infographics, interactive PDFs, job aids, and other supplementary materials to support various learning initiatives.

  • Utilize video editing and creation skills to produce high-quality, visually appealing training videos and multimedia content that effectively convey complex concepts.

  • Deliver virtual and in person training sessions in support of onboarding, skill building, and leadership development across multiple regions.

  • Design and develop interactive eLearning modules, incorporating multimedia elements, assessments, simulations, and scenarios to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of learning content and resources into our learning management system (LMS) or other relevant platforms.

  • Research and discover solutions to learning delivery problems by utilizing Workday Learning (LMS).

  • Stay current with learning industry trends to adopt new modalities such as social learning, mobile delivery, and other learning methods.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Multimedia Design or a minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional or learning experience design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.

  • Strong ability to conceptualize, design, and create visually appealing digital learning resources that enhance learning outcomes.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.

  • Work with cross functional partners to identify needs and suggest appropriate learning methods to address the organizational need that includes key performance indicators (KPI) for success measurement. 

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to improve processes and exercise judgment to work independently.

  • Demonstrated expertise in video editing and creation using Camtasia or Canva.

  • Experience using Articulate Rise and/or Articulate Storyline.

  • Experience applying UI/UX principles to learning design to create user-friendly and engaging resources.

  • Knowledge of instructional design frameworks such as ADDIE or SAM.

  • Knowledge and use of eLearning technical standards (SCORM, AICC).

WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

  • Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week consistent with the Company’s hybrid policy, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.

  • Travel will be required for occasional meetings, training, or conferences.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Decisions made with thorough knowledge of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines.

The salary range for this position is $71,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $71,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
