WHO WE ARE

  • Global Financial Intermediaries (GFIM) is the segment that focuses on financial intermediaries clientele (also known as “Independent Asset Managers”, or IAMs) at Bank of Singapore.  

  • Relationship Managers (RMs) in GFIM are supported by professionals in the Institutional Coverage Group on all functions relating to investments.  Note that Institutional Coverage Group is part of the overall Investment Advisory team at Bank of Singapore.

  • The scope of coverage includes capital markets products (stocks, bonds, FX, equity structured products, complex structured products, etc); fund solutions including alternatives (hedge funds, private equities); mandate solutions; and all other strategic solutions to grow the overall GFIM business.

  • Institutional Specialist plays a crucial role in driving daily engagements with our most valuable financial intermediary partners.

  • Key attributes of an Institutional Specialist include extensive experience and knowledge of capital markets, preferably in-depth understanding of one single asset class, like equities, FX or structured derivatives.  Be commercial, with a good dose of entrepreneurship to drive engagement with our FIM partners.  Other valuable attributes to be successful in this role include strong interpersonal skills to connect with different profiles of clientele; teamworker and reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility to be accountable to stakeholders in driving business.  

WHAT YOU DO

  • As an Institutional Specialist, the candidate is expected to lead select analysts of the team in providing daily/regular proactive investment advisory & solutions to our FIM partners.

  • This means being able to articulate views on the markets/products; and able to synthesize information relevant to our FIM partners. The Specialist is expected to provide coherent views on markets & investments, in response to existing landscape/environment.

  • With strong understanding of financial markets and investment landscape, a key focus of the role is to identify commercial opportunities with our FIM partners. This involves highlighting thematic opportunities and also customized solutions (which encompass broad range of investment vehicles) in order to maximize the opportunity set to the Bank.

  • As part of the day-to-day responsibilities, the candidate is expected to ensure seamless execution of trades & investments for FIMs under his/her coverage.

  • The role also involves active marketing of our coverage platform to new prospective FIMs.

  • Be creative, at the same time commercially astute in generating new ideas & solutions to grow the FIM business. We aim to be our FIM clients “first-port-of-call”, and also the preferred partner vs all other competitors.

  • Candidate is required to be aware and compliant on all aspects of the Bank’s process, policies and procedures. 

WHO YOU ARE

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a banking environment, whether in products role, or client engagement role.

  • A suitable candidate may be someone from structured product sales, FX sales, equity derivatives sales, structuring, or prime brokerage. Candidate from investment advisory or investment counselor background may apply too.  

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably quantitative background

  • CFA qualifications or equivalent is not necessity, but an added plus

Skills Required

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a banking environment
  • Experience in structured product sales, FX sales, equity derivatives sales, structuring, prime brokerage, investment advisory, or investment counseling
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Quantitative academic background
  • CFA qualification or equivalent
