About this role

Purpose/Background:

BlackRock is currently seeking an Institutional Sales professional to be based in Milan to work within the Italian Team, with primary responsibility for supporting the sales process for institutional clients in the region including pension funds and social security agencies, and focusing on the BlackRock ETF distribution platform.

We are looking for a dynamic, commercial, client-focused sales professional with strong understanding and experience in the ETF asset class and institutional mandates.

The Italian Institutional team is responsible for the strategy and distribution of BlackRock’s products, including mutual funds, managed accounts, ETFs, customized solutions, and others, with Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, Banks and Family Offices based in the region.

The candidate will contribute to the Team activity and responsible for delivering the broad BlackRock offering including index equities, active equities, fixed income, private markets (i.e. Infrastructure, Private Credit, Private Equity, Real Estate and alternative strategies).

The candidate will be a key participant in client dialogue with respect to BlackRock’s investment offerings, whole portfolio solutions capabilities and product distribution, RFP processes, supervision of the boarding and the post sales assistance, helping to drive both business and client strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of sales coverage; including helping to establish, develop and maintain client relationships

  • Lead and coordinate the end-to-end RFP and tender process for institutional clients, including pension funds and social security agencies. 

  • Coordination of the various sales stakeholders to organise and coordinate client meetings, as well as roadshows and marketing campaigns

  • End to end ownership of the marketing and sales cycle.

  • Ensure all client data and sales activity is promptly logged and accurately reflected in the CRM system and sales pipeline, where appropriate

  • Key point of contact for client queries and requests, working closely with the Head of Client Business and the client servicing team to respond, as required

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of BlackRock’s regional strategy in the institutional space.

  • Key stakeholder in preparatory workstreams relating to global senior executives’ engagement with regional clients; including briefing and strategy papers

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Proven experience within the asset management or investment banking industry 

  • Background in institutional sales, client advisory, or portfolio management preferred 

  • Strong understanding of capital markets, developed through experience in asset management or investment banking 

  • Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability, with a track record of delivering commercial outcomes and high-quality client solutions 

  • Solid knowledge of the Italian pension system and institutional market landscape

  • This role requires an ambitious, results-driven individual, prepared to be hands-on and operate actively within the firm

  • The successful candidate will have a track record of working closely with clients, be it in an advisory or a business development.  He or she will have an ability to understand the structures, decision-making and thought processes of different clients and therefore contribute to advisory of clients on existing products and on the structuring client-specific solutions

  • They will be a pro-active self-starter with the ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritise

Communication and Influencing Skills:

  • Able to articulate complex investment products and processes to a diverse client audience

  • A good listener with strong communication skills, applied internally and externally to information gathering, influencing and negotiating

  • A logical thinker with strong problem solving abilities

  • Fluency in Italian is strongly preferred
