On the institutional side of our business, some of the world’s most sophisticated trading firms have chosen Coinbase’s industry leading derivatives and spot offerings for trading. This role is part of our Derivative Sales team - which takes care of all Coinbase International Exchange relationships across Institutional and Prosumer segments. Goal is to bring users on platform and maximize volume and therefore revenue.
We are growing our Institutional Sales team and are looking for motivated people to help chart the path of a new and rapidly expanding business. Our institutional client base includes both “crypto-natives” as well as traditional finance firms getting into crypto for the first time. You will be part of a team that identifies and develops relationships with some of the world’s most advanced trading firms.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Working with Marketing and Local Country managers to increase awareness of Coinbase and its Advance Trading capabilities along with its derivatives offering
- Educating and bringing on customers onto Coinbase’s derivatives platform. This will be 50/50 across Institutional/Prosumer
- Identifying broader cross selling opportunities and leveraging the rest of the Institutional team
- Working alongside product to further develop our product and make it number one in the asset class
- Market Coinbase International Exchange, which offers Derivatives, to institutional clients and trading firms.
- Assist senior institutional sales team members in coverage for existing clients as well as lead generation and responding to inbound opportunities.
- Help to develop and implement regional institutional sales strategy
- Help the business scale by collaborating with teammates to create and optimize processes for sales, support and CRM.
- Take part in marketing activities in region; meet face-to-face or virtually with existing and prospective clients, and be involved in hosting and organising client events
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience, preferably in a sales/account coverage/business development/sales & trading role for a tier-1 cryptocurrency exchange
- A broad understanding of Derivative markets and products along with experience in providing solutions to Clients’ needs.
- Existing relationships with market makers / high frequency firms / proprietary trading firms / quantitative trading firms in the cryptocurrency and/or traditional finance space
- Demonstrable track record of consistently strong performance in prior positions
- High energy level, eagerness to learn and contribute immediately, willingness to engage in a multi-faceted role as part of a small team
- Strong strategic thinking, client-facing communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to distill complex information into an easily digestible form
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time (as and when it is safe to do so)
- Intellectual curiousity, passionate about the opportunity and personable (internal and external)
- Strong team collaboration - this roll crosses all functions of coinbase (Platform, Consumer and Institutional) and across all Product, Legal, Marketing and Sales. It is critical that you have strong team working skills
- Driven - essentially operating a start up within a start up, so the individual will need to be a self-starter and motivated to push for results without micro-management
- Entrepreneurial - bring new ideas and methods to the table
Nice to haves:
- Existing client list (Prosumer + Insto) that can be ported over
- Good knowledge of marketing / outreach by other exchanges
- Experience working in a tier 1 asset manager, hedge fund, fintech, technology, brokerage firm, prime broker, prime brokerage services
