The Institutional Relationship Manager role is part of broader institutional sales effort and will be responsible for driving new business, maintaining existing business and serving as the primary liaison for institutional clients and prospects. Institutional Relationship Manager will focus on solutions across consultants, insurance companies, Endowment & Foundation, and retirement. They will be responsible for developing new business and maintain existing business relationships by conducting phone calls, email campaigns, webinars, in person and virtual sales meetings, and attending industry conferences. Expand opportunities for Thrivent Investment Products by leveraging current and new industry contacts. They achieve this by mastering Thrivent Investment Products and utilizing extensive product knowledge, competitive positioning, sales process skills and case consultation skills.
The incumbent works with complex and strategic sales opportunities. Required to complete RFI responses and inquiries.
**Base pay listed is only part of total compensation and can vary based on experience. Total compensation consists of an annual salary, quarterly variable compensation based on sales and an annual company performance bonus for target comp range of $335k to $350k.
**We prefer this role to sit in the Minneapolis, MN area but are open to candidates working remotely anywhere across the United States.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive sales and market share growth of Thrivent Investments. Develop sales pipeline through multiple marketing activities. This includes attending conferences, networking with existing relationships, developing consultant and sponsor relationships through face-to-face meetings. Actively develop relationships with institutions in segments.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge/expertise of Thrivent Investment products/strategies and present analytical investment processes through the sales process with firms.
  • Manage all aspects of the sales cycle including but not limited to, development and execution of the RFI, determine sales strategy, develop presentations, and orchestrate all internal resources.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal partners, existing intermediary wholesaling staff, internal product specialists. Leverage product specialist resources to develop RFPs coordinate activities throughout the sales process.
  • Fulfills in a timely manner required administrative/team responsibilities such as CRM data entry, call reporting, expense reports, conference calls and meetings on time.
  • Provide new ideas for products solutions for institutional channel.
  • Adhere to all compliance guidelines including use of pre-approved marketing materials, prospectus requirements and proper licensing.
  • Manage annual T&E budget.
  • At all times, conduct daily activities in the highest professional manner.

Job Qualifications

  • An established and extensive professional network that can be leveraged to develop and advance highly complex and strategic sales opportunities.
  • Demonstrate track record of success in developing a sales pipeline in the $250 million and above plan segment.
  • Intelligent, driven, detail-oriented, hard-working, and able to work effectively with professional, high caliber executives in various business areas.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and presentation skills, Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven determination, ability to show persuasiveness and leadership in difficult situations.
  • Collaborative and collegial in approach and style.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, achievement-oriented mindset with discipline to working independently.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Deep understanding of competitors’ products.
  • Technology skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce, Broadridge Opportunity Hunter, eVestment.
  • Required to travel 35% to 50% of time as needed, mostly overnight stays.
  • Ability to build relationships.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $140,056.00 - $189,487.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
