Join us as an Infrastructure Engineer

  • You’ll engineer infrastructure technology for public and private cloud environments, complying with security, resilience, sustainability and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in 
  • You'll play a key role in managing, operating, enhancing and supporting our strategic API Management platform based on Apigee Hybrid deployed on AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, security and operational excellence across mission-critical banking services
  • You’ll also use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product, working with customers to help them use our products appropriately through a users’ CI or CD pipeline 
  • This is a chance to work with colleagues across the bank to share engineering best practices, allowing you to expand your network and gain exposure for you and your work

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets and architecture outcomes, along with developing products using modern engineering practices and tools. 

A significant part of your role will focus on the Apigee Hybrid platform running on AWS, including platform operations, infrastructure management, security compliance, resiliency, and automation. 

We’ll look to you to collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement.  You’ll also support engineered products and respond to user feedback, new feature requests and resolve production issues wanted by the Product Owner. 

Additionally, you’ll:

  • Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development 
  • Work within a team to design intuitive, self-service infrastructure products 
  • Contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions 
  • Work closely with Security, Network, Cloud, Developer Experience, and Application teams to ensure platform reliability and compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards. 
  • Provide operational support for pattern or product related issues 
The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll have strong experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, platform operations, and enterprise-scale environment management. You’ll possess hands-on expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, networking, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a proven track record of designing, deploying, and supporting highly resilient, secure, and scalable platforms within a regulated environment.

We’ll expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets with the ability to relate everyday work to the vision of the feature team, platform and domain. 

Furthermore, you’ll need:

  • Experience of the development of CI or CD pipelines using modern tooling with 7+ years of experience
  • Proficient in AWS Cloud (VPC, Transit gateway, ELB, global accelarator, route 53, S3 , WAF), proficient in Container orchestration (EKS), HPA, Karpenter, argo-cd
  • Expert in Infrastructure as Code (Enterprise terraform, TFE workspace)
    Proficient on CI/CD and pipeline (gitlab)
  • Proficient on Observability (Otel, Fluentbit, promethus), Monitoring (cloudwatch, splunk)
  • Good to have - Knowledge on Apigee Hybrid

Skills Required

  • 7+ years experience developing CI/CD pipelines and platform automation
  • Hands-on AWS experience (VPC, Transit Gateway, ELB, Global Accelerator, Route 53, S3, WAF)
  • Kubernetes and EKS operational experience (including HPA, Karpenter)
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD
  • Infrastructure as Code using Enterprise Terraform and TFE workspaces
  • Observability and monitoring tooling (OpenTelemetry/Otel, Fluent Bit, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Splunk)
  • Platform operations, security compliance, resiliency and automation experience in regulated environments
