While many firms have come and gone, PEAK6 Capital Management has consistently delivered liquidity to the options market. We thrive due to our firm's special blend of financial acumen, ability to manage risk, and cutting-edge technology.
PEAK6 Capital Management was brought to life through insatiable curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and the desire to win. We were among the first firms to develop sophisticated proprietary technology in our trading business. Today, we continue to leverage our technical ingenuity and operational excellence across several investment areas, spanning early-to-mid stage growth capital, operational control, trading, and eSports. Throughout the years, we've built and operated several financial technology firms and we continue to evolve.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
PEAK6 Capital Management is looking for a skilled Senior Information Security Engineer to strengthen our team in Chicago. In this role, you will be instrumental in analyzing our security measures, ensuring that our systems and data adhere to security standards through vigorous assessment and monitoring. Working closely with the information security and IT teams, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our information assets.
What You'll Do All Day:

  • Information Security Evangelist: Be a information security leader and a partner within the developer community
  • Proactively Secure Development Lifecycle: Focus on integrating security at every stage of software development to ensure that every release adheres to security best practices. Use tools and practices to identify vulnerabilities early and continuously.
  • Automate Security Processes: Deploy security automation tools to scan and detect security vulnerabilities in code bases, container images, and deployments, efficiently at scale.
  • Monitor Systems and Respond to Security Alerts: Keep a watchful eye on systems and networks for unusual activities and possible breaches. Use automated tools to respond swiftly to security alerts.
  • Enhance Security Frameworks and Compliance: Develop and enforce security policies and protocols, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and industry standards. Assist in maintaining ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST compliance.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to build and maintain a robust security posture that is deeply embedded into IT operations and development.
  • Incident Management and Remediation:Lead teams in quickly addressing and remediating security incidents. Enhance existing incident response strategies and ensure rapid recovery and minimal disruption.
  • Security Advocacy and Training: Serve as the security expert within cross-functional teams, championing security awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Continuous Learning and Security Assessments:Stay updated on the latest security trends, tools, and threats. Regularly assess the security landscape to improve defenses and reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Stay Updated and Educate:Keep abreast of the latest in DevSecOps tools, practices, and security threats. Actively share this knowledge with your team and the wider organization to strengthen security awareness and practices.

YOUR EXPEREINCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Software Engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications in DevOps or cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist) would be advantageous.
  • Experienced in Security Tooling and Methodologies. Extensive experience with security tools (e.g., SonarQube, OWASP tools, Fortify) and methodologies needed for effective threat assessments.
  • DevOps and Automation Skills as Nice to Have. Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions is appreciated but not the focus-your goal is not to build or maintain these pipelines but to secure them.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and familiarity with secure coding practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in team settings, adept at managing multiple priorities, and strong communication skills to liaise between technical teams and senior management.
