Sedgman is currently seeking an Industrial Process Plant Automation Engineer to work out of our Vancouver, BC office location.
The Industrial Process Plant Automation Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of industrial process control systems. This role involves applying these skills to the resources industries for minerals and coal processing plants. Typical activities include automation design, PLC programming, SCADA configuration, network design, and technical document preparation.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities:
Design of process control systems (PCS) and associated industrial networks including conceptual and detailed design for minerals and coal processing plants.
- Preparation of technical documents including design criteria, functional specifications, and network drawings.
- PLC programming and SCADA programming/configuration. Bench testing, and documentation of test results.
- Conduct technical bid reviews and make vendor recommendations.
- Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, and programming, and attend Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Work with other teams including electrical, process, and business development to provide expertise as required.
- Provide material and engineering cost estimates to support marketing and proposal submissions.
- Some travel may be required (to attend Factory Acceptance Tests and perform on-site commissioning).
What are we looking for in our future team member?? Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical or Automation disciplines preferably.
- Have at least eight (8) years' experience using PLC programming and SCADA software including on-site commissioning and project management experience.
- To be considered for this role, you must have experience with:
- Rockwell Automation PLC products including FactoryTalk View SE.
- Industrial Ethernet networks.
- PID loop controllers including Cascade and Feedforward.
- Process P&ID drawings.
- Be highly competent in technical writing, and the use of Microsoft Word.
- The following skills would be looked upon favourably but are not required:
- Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx DCS solution.
- Rockwell Automation’s Application Code Manager (ACM).
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range: $130,000-155,000
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
